On The Creative Style And Performance Interpretation Of Debussy's Piano Work "Bergamo Suite"

Achille-Claude Debussy(1862.8.22--1918.3.25),French,a very influential composer at the end of the nineteenth Century and early twentieth Century,and also a representative of Impressionist music.Debussy is the founder of Impressionism music.He made a great contribution to the development of late romantic music,which was a milestone in the history of music,and opened a new world for composers in the twentieth Century.He explored from poetry,drama and painting,and found a new world of music from the music of Russia,Spain and the Oriental nation.In pursuit of color and hazy,he pursued the novel writing technique of harmony.What he paid attention to was not the function of harmony but its color effect.Although he’s not out of the major minor system,he used a lot of whole tone scale and pentatonic scale and medieval modes.According to the subject matter,Debussy’s creation can be divided into the following several kinds,the description of natural scenery and natural phenomena first,such as moonlight,sea,temple,etc.;the expression of folk life and customs second,such as folk dance,festival and the figure of quiet life.;the myths and legends of the fantasy realm third,such as Faun,water demon,etc.He is good at using short music theme,colorful harmony,changeable texture,and delicate orchestration to depict the title sketches of natural scenery and the life custom and the myth of the conception,and highlight the subjective impression of instant feelings and intuition.Therefore,his music often has the characteristics of hazy,elegant,quiet and unreal.Debussy’s creation involves piano works,chamber music,orchestral music,art songs and operas.His piano piece,"Suite Burgamasque",was created in the late nineteenth Century and early twentieth Century.The name comes from “Moonlight”of the French poet Weil "Go to the gaily masquerade and the burgamasque".This suite is consisted of “Prelude”,“Menuet” “Claire de Lune”,and “Passepied”.This paper is divided into three parts: the first part mainly expounded the overall style and characteristics of Debussy’s creation and the creation background and music style of “Suite Burgamasque”;the second part made a concrete analysis of the artistry of the creation “Suite Burgamasque”;In the third part,the interpretation of the performance of “Suite Burgamasque” was discussed in detail.
