The Unfinished State Of Painting And Sculpture

The unfinished state of painting and sculpture is a phenomenon of marginalization existing in art history.This issue had been considered by Pliny the Elder,Vasari,or later the psychologist Freud and the neuroscientist Zeki.As the end of representational art era,Paul Cézanne named ‘the father of the modern art' found a new way for developing the art.As we can see,Cézanne has a lot of unfinished paintings in his whole life,we took this opportunity to do some research,found the fact is,Cézanne used to try his unique painting language to start a new painting.Cézanne's style break the western traditional,stubborn,rigid mode of painting,built a new system of creation and aesthetic standard.According to this recognition hereinbefore,this dissertation consists of three chapters.It analyzes the unfinished art from two dimensions of the psychoanalysis and the aesthetics.The introduction focuses on the reasons for writing this paper and the research targets,the current situation and development trend at home and abroad.Chapter I discriminates the ‘unfinished' and explains the reasons for the unfinished phenomenon.Meanwhile,this chapter has combed development vein of unfinished art phenomenon.Chapter II mainly expounds the unfinished creations of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo in the Renaissance.Chapter III intends to study the important influence of Cézanne's unfinished paintings on the creation and aesthetic.In fact,the hidden behind of the unfinished phenomenon of art is the questioning of historical issues,emphasizes the phenomenon of marginalization and the re-use of scientific methodology in the new era.
