Music is the product of human consciousness.Similar to language, music is one of the mediums of communication in human society. In modern society,as people's material standard of living improves, listening to music has become a way of life for modern people.Music has also become a background for people's daily life or work and study. To most people, people feel better with beautiful music and work or study more efficiently. In fact, this "naive" idea implies a scientific question: does background music have an impact on cognitive processing? This effect has a promotion,or inhibit the role? Although many previous studies explored this from a behavioral level, the issue has not yet been conclusive due to the different manipulation of the various research experiments. If behavioral research fails to examine the temporal mode of response of the brain to background music effects then it will be an ideal tool to explore the impact of background music on cognitive processing due to the temporal resolution of electrophysiological techniques mechanism.Taking into account the length of the master's thesis, this study focuses on the problem of language comprehension in cognitive processing and examines the effect of background music on language comprehension processing through the use of electrophysiological techniques. In order to examine the impact of background music on language comprehension processing, this study includes two experiments. In each experiment,Rapid Serial Visual Presentation(RSVP)was used.Language stimuli were presented word by word.Subjects judged the world knowledge in different contexts correctly. The experimental paradigm can accurately grasp the effect of background music in the time course of sentence meaning integration by means of keywords.Experiment 1 explores whether background music has an impact on language comprehension. In this experiment, the background music is high wake-up music. We manipulated background music(providing background music and quiet environment)and verbal terminology(correctness and error),which resulted in four experimental conditions: the background music environment and the correct final sentence, the background music environment and the wrong sentence, quiet Environment and correct sentences, quiet environment and wrong sentences.Experimental subjects were not accepted music training college students.According to the experimental conditions,we randomly divided them into two groups: one to judge the language comprehension under the condition of listening to the background music;the other one to judge the language comprehension in a quiet environment. The results showed that subjects could perform language processing and induce significant N400 effects both in a quiet environment and in a background music environment. If the influence of background music may be subject to the awakening of music, then the second experiment examines whether arousal background music has an impact on language comprehension. In this experiment,we manipulated background music arousal(high wake-up music and low wake-up music)and verbal terminology(correctness and error),resulting in four experimental conditions: high wake-up music environment and correct sentence final, high Wake up the music environment and the wrong sentence, low wake-up music environment and the correct end words,as well as a low wake-up music environment and the wrong sentence.Similar to the experiment,we randomly divided the undergraduates who had not received music training into two groups: one group judged the language comprehension under the condition of listening to the high wake-up background music and the other group performed the language comprehension under the condition of low wake-up background music judgment. The results showed that although subjects in both groups were able to elicit a significant N400 effect, participants who heard low wake-up background music also developed significant P600 effects late in the study, which were not found in subjects who heard high wake-up background music. The results of this study show that participants need to reanalyze language comprehension tasks to achieve deeper integration processing while listening to arousals with low wake-up music, and subjects can finish the language faster with high wake-up music Understand the processing. If the N400 effect reflects the participants' integration of semantic understanding, the P600 effect reflects the reanalysis and revision of the violation semantics in the late stage. Therefore, the above experimental results show that 1)listening to high wake-up music can promote language understanding processing in the same quiet environment;2)although individuals can integrate semantics while listening to high-awakening and low-awakening music,Different conditions of wake-up music, listening to low wake-up music need to re-analyze the semantic understanding and correction,to achieve a deeper level of semantic integration. As there is no statistical difference in the behavioral data of the two experiments under different conditions,it is not at this level that listening to all music can promote language comprehension.Unlike high-awake music, listening to low-awake music slows down the brain's understanding of the language processing process to a certain extent. This study validates the theory of emotional awakening, that is,high-awakening background music promotes the understanding and processing of language by stimulating positive emotions.
