The outbreak of the American Revolution is an important turning point to change the status of Indians. The revolutionary war changed the equal status of Indians and whites in colonial era. When signing the Paris peace treaty, the sovereignty of Indians was destroyed. After the founding of the United States, the status of the United States gradually declined, and finally transformed into the "domesitic dependent nations".This position transformation is caused by Indian's own economic, cultural and American attitude. This article tries to analyze the changes in the Indian status and analyze the reasons behind the change in the relationship between the Indians and the white people during the period of the American Revolution. In the colonial period, the Indians had an independent and relatively complete sovereignty. In the process of interacting with the whites, whether in political alliances or confrontations or in economic and trade dealings, the mode of communication between countries is adopted. In terms of culture, the two sides learn from each other and integrate together to adapt to each other's existence.During the American Revolution, most Indians supported the British government and stood opposite to the colony. The colony tried to win the friendship of the Indians, but failed. After that, the US government launched an expedition against the Indians, defeated the Indians by force, and weakened the strength of the alliance between the British and the Indians. The final war ended with the victory of the United States.Britain and the United States made peace talks in Paris.Britain abandoned its allies and ceded the land of the Indians to the United States. Then the signing of the fort Vickers treaty further destroyed the sovereignty of the Indians. Then the Indians reformed from the political, military and cultural aspects to resist the oppression of the American government. After the defeat, the Indians could only move to the reserve. Finally,in 1831,Marshall declared that the Indians belonged to the "domesitic dependent nations".For many reasons that the relationship between Indians and whites changed from equal to Indian dependent on whites. The first is the destruction of the war, which led to the loss of land resources, the decline of tribal communities and the impoverished Indians. They cannot adapt themselves to the new life in the reserved place,so it is very difficult to transform their life style, and it is hard to recover from the heavy losses of the war, which resulting in further decline. The attitude of the US government has also had an important influence on the status of the Indians. The discrimination against the red race by white people is the root cause of the government's policy towards Indians.Because the Indians did not stand in the same camp with the United States during the American Revolution, the attitudes of the founding fathers to the Indians also influenced the attitude of the government to the Indians. In a word, the American Revolution brought the Indian to the fate of the tragedy. After this revolution, the relationship between the Indians and the white people had changed greatly, and the status of the Indians declined gradually.United States of America,as the winner of the revolution, oppressed the Indians for their own development, and the new national strength gradually destroyed the Indian traditional culture. At the same time, the Indians were unable to integrate into the new capitalist market, which led to their failure to revive after their weak strength. After the American Revolution, the Native Americans of the North American continent had lost their early dominance and became "domesitic dependent nations".
