Yinghai Li is the founder of pentatonic scale harmony techniques as well as the creation and transcriptions of Chinese piano works.His own creation of various solo piano works,as well as the Chinese archaic music adapted by the Chinese traditional musical instrument,is the specific embodiment of practicing the pentatonic scale harmony techniques,just like piano transcriptions "The Flute and Drum at Sunset" and "The Parting In Yangguan" are all successful application of pentatonic scale harmony.Yinghai Li spent most of his life to pay exploration and practice of the pentatonic scale harmony techniques,the purpose lies in the development of traditional Chinese music,where behind it is the reflection of Yinghai Li's Chinese national music culture consciousness and bear.The author thinks that playing the piano works of Yinghai Li is inseparable from the analysis of his creative ideas and creative techniques,so that pianist can understand the works and restore the original meaning of the composer as much as possible.This paper try to analyze pentatonic scale harmony techniques that is adapted in Yinghai Li's two of the most famous piano adaptation of archaic music——"The Flute and Drum at Sunset" and "The Parting In Yangguan",attempts to analyze his compose techniques In terms of "polyphony" and "color" to search for its real meaning,and to extend the cultural connotation which is contained in Yinghai Li's piano works,to broaden the extension of culture research,and specific to the various work of the local cultural context,interpretation the works in a multiple perspectives,multi-level and multi-dimensional way.Through these analysis,the author comes to the conclusion that"structures"(that is,"the pentatonic scale harmony techniques" and "music form and structure"),"image"(that is,"situation" and "context"),"association"(that is,the"imitation" and "comprehensive art")and "Thought"(that is,dual dialectics)are four core elements in a narrative "China complex",that makes the two pieces can be adapted to the success.What makes the music more attractive is the imagination and the free space,based on this,the image of Chinese piano music seems should be extended to a new deeper space,namely "context" and "complex",The pentatonic scale harmony techniques is one of the means to show Chinese piano music,which is the key to directly open the music complex in China.It can be predicted that in the future research,the pentatonic scale harmony techniques will be developed in a more abundant,diversified and broad space,which is determined by the characteristics of music in China.At the same time,it is because of the characteristics of music in China that the pentatonic scale harmony techniques can play an effective role and have the tenacious vitality.It is the starting point,but it is not the destination.After that,the research should follow its steps and find the way home.
