The role of language input in language acquisition has been the focus of second language acquisition studies.Krashen's input hypothesis,since it was proposed,has had a strong influence on second language acquisition at home and abroad.The paper,based on previous studies,intends to investigate the English reading teaching strategies within the framework of Krashen's input thesis.This paper tries to answer the following two questions:(1)What strategies can be developed for the teaching English reading in senior high school within the framework of input hypothesis?(2)What influences will the new strategies have on the improvement of students' English reading ability?The research includes an experiment of English reading teaching based on the input hypothesis,a questionnaire survey and interviews with the subjects.The subjects for the study are 60 students from Qufu NO.1 Middle School where I taught between September and December,2017.The experimental class(class 14)was taught using the new strategies by the writer herself,the contrastive class(class 13)was taught in the traditional way of teaching writing.The experiment lasted for four months.We had a pre-test at the beginning of the semester,and a post-test was carried out at the end of the experiment,and then the questionnaire survey was conducted and the data were calculated and analyzed.The research reached two major findings:(1)A number of reading teaching strategies were developed based on Krashen's input hypothesis,includes vocabulary input,syntax input,discourse input,and strategies for optimized input.(2)The new strategies can improve students' reading ability and motivate their interest of English reading.The significance of research are as follows.Theoretically,it enriches the strategies for teaching reading in senior high school English teaching,offering more solid theoretical ground for teaching senior high school English reading.Practically,it provides an effective English reading teaching model for teachers,which contributes to improve students' reading ability.
