| Parental corporal punishment and mother’s corporal punishment are the lower level of bodily harm that parents practice in order to regulate their children’s behavior in their established direction.Corporal punishment is one of the most common forms of parental discipline in the family(Lee,Grogan-Kaylor,& Berger,2014).Although the corporal punishment rate decreased from 1975 to 2002,the rate of spanking and attacking the body was still relatively high(Zoloto et al.,2011).Studies have shown that parental corporal punishment has a strong correlation with adolescent aggression.parental corporal punishment can predict adolescent aggression significantly(Gómez-Ortiz,2016).In China, parents affected by traditional education are often straight and rough in the process of educating their children. Many parents would like to play a certain role like peaceful mother and strict father. They believe that this is good for the child’s development mentally and physically. However, there are few people have studied the advantages and disadvantages of this type of education.School connectedness refers to the emotional connection between students and the school itself and people in the school environment, reflecting the students’ sense of ownership and the approval of the school(Wilson,2004).In previous studies, school connectedness not only reflected the child’s emotional state at school, but also had significant correlations with parenting styles and adolescent aggression(O’Connor &McCartney,2006),School connectedness is a mediator between parent-child relationship and adolescent aggression(Oldfield,Humphrey,& Hebron,2016).In addition,self-regulation as a self-psycho-regulatory mechanism that can effectively regulate one’s own thinking, intentions, behaviors, etc.is a skill that gradually develops as individuals mature.Previous studies have pointed out that self-regulatory ability is high and low.Attack behavior is related. This study contains a total of two parts of the study. The first part deals with the mediating effects of school corporal punishment, maternal corporal punishment, and their interactions on aggressive behavior. The second part is based on the first part, adding self-regulation ability. As a regulatory variable, the role of self-regulation on the regulation of the first part of each pathway was explored. The study used parental corporal scales, offensive scales,school-linked scales, and self-regulations ability scales to measure 3,176 middle school students. The results showed that:(1)The indirect effects of father’s physical punishment on teenage bog’s aggressive behavior through adolescent school connectedness;Further, father corporal punishment have negative effect on school connectedness, school connectedness significantly negatively predicted aggressive behavior;(2)In the teenage girls group, the direct effects of father’s physical punishment or maternal corporal punishment on adolescent aggressive behavior can be mediated by the school connectedness significantly;Further, father and maternal corporal punishment have negative effect on school connectedness, school connectedness significantly negatively predicted aggressive behavior;(3)Father’s physical punishment and maternal punishment have a significant interaction on teenage boy’s aggressive behavior. When the level of maternal punishment is low,the direct effects of father’s physical punishment on the adolescent boy’s aggressive behavior gets stronger;Further, under the same conditions of maternal corporal punishment, teenage boys with low father corporal punishment have less aggressive behavior;(4)Father’s punishment and maternal punishment have a significant interaction on the teenage girl’s school connectedness. The negative association between father’s punishment and teenage girl’s school connectedness was stronger at low maternal physical punishment;Further, under the same conditions of maternal physical punishment, teenage girls with low father physical punishment have higher school connections;(5)In the adolescent boys group, parental corporal punishment and self-regulation have a significant triple interaction effect on adolescent boys’ aggression;specifically, the positive association between parental corporal punishment and adolescent boy aggression is significantly stronger in young mothers with physical corporal punishment than in young mothers with physical punishment.;(6)The interaction between self-regulation and school connectedness has significant interactions with adolescent aggression.Further, the negative association between school connectedness and adolescent aggression is significantly stronger in young people with high self-regulation than young people with low self-regulation. |
