Poetic Acting As A Baby—On The Survival Aesthetics In Silent Poems

Coquettish poetry school is rarely mentioned or studied in depth in modern poetry history.The school came into existence on February,1985 in Shanghai,led by two modern poets,Jingbute and Momo.From coquettish poets' explanation of their own poems,it can be concluded that “coquetry” has always been a covert poetic concept and that its poetic and aesthetic value in modern poetry history remain to be exploited and elaborated.In the thesis,“coquetry” is seen as a “behavior”,that is,coquetry is a language art in the sense of behavioral art.The thesis mainly studies the poems of Momo and the “coquettish” attitudes toward life or living conditions.The poet,Momo calls himself and other poets of the school as masters of“coquetry”.By doing so,in fact,he takes writing“coquettish”poetry as a behavioral expression of one' s living in a certain social context.The behavior is a poetic one to him and his poems serve as his declaration of behavioral art.He uses the creation of poems to express his own course of life and his attitudes towards life.By utilizing the coquettish element,he presents and eulogize a secular but poetic life in which one can be coquettish.Therefore,three aesthetic principles pursued by Coquettish poetry school are “strike-back”,“satire”,and “self-examination”.Nevertheless,the poems created by the poets of the school are not enough to convey the connotation of “coquettish poetics”.After conducting research,it is found by the author that “coquettish poetics”,as an aesthetics of existence,a behavioral art and a life style,has broader poetics connotations than that has been praised by the school itself.Thus,the thesis will focus on the literary context of existence--“favor-currying”,“resistance”,“introspection”,and “irony” in the poems by the poets of the school,and study what “coquetry” means,who the object of“coquetry” is,and how to coquette.It can be seen from the poets' course of life and creation of poems that the “ coquetry ” they choose is actually a way to experience the pleasure of existence as well as a strategy of gaining the power of discourse in the field of poetry.
