The Enlightenment Of Zhao Zhiqian's Handwriting And Natural Calligraphy

As one of the mot important calligraphers in the history of calligraphy art,Zhao zhiqian is the best practitioner of the Beixue theory in Qing dynasty.Zhao's unique Weibei writing style is a further progress to the technique system of the Beixue,and makes him a real comprehensively unique calligraphy model in styles of running script,clerical script,standard script and seal script.With his own unique artistic aesthetics,Zhao has opened up a new research path for the modern calligraphic creations.This thesis has made a careful analysis on zhao's life,his writing-learning years,his calligraphic achievements and his influences on the after generations.Further,this thesis is mainly to imitate Zhao's handwriting styles and to sum up the characteristics of the pen usage,the layout of the words and the spirit of his writing.This thesis found that methods of the ending of the Weibei square pen,the turning of the round pen,and the writing of the seal script were used in Zhao's writings.A large amount of irregular white space outside and inside a word and the combination of multiple connections between words successfully solved the contradiction between Weibei and running script writing styles and formed the natural handwriting style of his own.Based on both the research results collected and on the author's own imitation experiences,this thesis,through the systematic induction and classification analysis on many graphic materials,has made a study on how to express the most fundamental aesthetic requirement of Spirit First through the blood,meat,tendons,and bones of the words.During the procedure of creations,the comparative method was being used.The comparison on Four treasures of the Chinese study and the studies on writing situations at different periods reflect better the straightforward nature of the writing.through constantly summarizing and solving the problems encountered in the procedure of imitation andcreation,this thesis expects to express out the natural spirits of the writing through applying the unique writing characteristics of Zhao's handwriting forms.
