The Linguistic Study Of Changzhi Village Names

The name of the village is a mirror image of the regional culture,reflecting all aspects of social life.According to the guidance of sociolinguistics and cultural linguistic theories,the paper systematically and comprehensively analyses the name of3451 administrative villages from 133 townships,containing 2 districts under the jurisdiction of Changzhi City(urban and suburban),1 city(LuCheng),10 counties(Changzhi,Xiangyuan,Tunliu,Pingshun,Licheng,Huguan,Changzi,Wuxiang,Qin and Qinyuan),using the methods of comparative study,data statistics,on-the-spot investigation and literature research.This article mainly summarizes the research status of the geographical names,analyzes the names of villages in Changzhi City from the aspects of phonetics,vocabulary and rhetoric,and puts forward reasonable suggestions on the naming and norms of village names in Changzhi City,with a view to the study of related geographical names and regional folk culture.This thesis mainly divides into seven parts:Introduction: mainly reviews the study of geographical names,introduces the general situation of Changzhi and its construction evolution,and expounds the scope,significance,related methods and basis of the research.The first part: studies the language characteristics of village names in Changzhi.Firstly,the syllable features of Changzhi village's name are introduced.The name of the two-syllable village remembered briefly is 54.52% in the name of Changzhi village,which is in line with the vocabulary development trend of vocabulary from ancient times to the present.Secondly,it sets forth the level and oblique interchangeably of the names,which is cadenced and the most common combination of four tones.The second part: analyses the word-formation characteristics of Changzhi village names.There are two main elements of the name structure: “general name” and“special name”."Special name + general name" is the most basic form of village names,and other forms are developed on the basis of basic form.The third part: summarizes the rhetoric of Changzhi geographical names.This paper takes a global view of metaphors,metonymy,allusions,personification,puns,irony,exaggeration and compound figures of speech in the geographical names.Under each figure of speech,it divides into several sub-categories according to different standards for analysis.The forth part: explains the naming rationale of Changzhi village.It mainly analyzes the three aspects of descriptive village name,narrative village name and fertile village name,which are divided into different sub-categories according to different levels,and they are summarized and analyzed one by one.While classifying the names of villages,it also explains the reasons for their initial naming,which further deepens the understanding of the names of villages.The fifth part: discusses the social culture characteristics of Changzhi village name.This chapter mainly analyzes the relationship between village name and culture from three aspects: political and military,Lushang economy and patriarchal religion.It shows that the village name is a mirror reflecting all aspects of social life,and excavates the cultural phenomenon behind the village name.The six part: summarizes the full paper,expounds regularly naming of Changzhi village,points out that the main problems existing in village names are “homonymy village”,“synonym village”,"mixed use of variants" and so on,and puts forward some standardization suggestions for these problems.
