On Benjamin's "Aura" View

Among the texts of Benjamin,the word of “aura” appears to be complicated and confusing.It seems difficult to be defined.Even if Benjamin gave it extremely imagery description to “aura”,there was no any difference.When we were excited to have the definition of “aura”,we found that this definition was not applicable to other contexts,which meant that “aura” did not have the universality.“Aura” is uncertain without any trace left,corresponding to the attitude of Benjamin,a “double-faced Janus”.The task of capturing “aura” can be said as being beset with difficulties.As a witness to “aura”,but the testimony given by Benjamin was so vague that several important texts involving “aura” appeared to ambiguous.If “auratic art” and “copy art” are opposite,then “aura” has become a watershed for traditional art and copy art,leading to the issue becoming more complex.Both of them were the products of the Machine Duplication,physiognomy surprisingly showed “aura”,but “aura” disappeared in movies,why did this situation happen? Starting from the concept of “duplication”,this paper showed the change of “history of duplication” to discuss the relationship between the original work and the duplicate,thus concluding the “contradiction” of Benjamin’s opinion through comparison of physiognomy and films.Existence of this “contradiction”,on the one hand,was manifested as the tension issue with “ritual value” and “exhibition value”,and on the other hand,it involved the issue of duplicability and non-repeatability of “aura”.The inconsistency of aura in his texts lied in his observance of the principle of “priority of the object”.In Benjamin’s opinion,the most important part is the issue of “philosophic statement”,not the logical consistency.His statement was consistent with the order of the object,objecting to suppression of the subject on the object and man-made construction of a uniform system.If the relationship between the subject and the object is restructured,it must be stated by means of argumentation.On the basis of the object as the source of meaning,argumentation reconstructs the principle of “object priority” in the materialistic tradition in “non-identity” way.The unfixed concept of “aura” is like “a star”.Because of its different forces in different fields,it will make “aura” a new relationship with other elements in the field,repulsion and force have a subtle change in its meaning.This paper showed attitude of Benjamin,a “double-faced Janus”,and solved the “inconsistency” issue in Benjamin’s texts regarding “aura” in the literary form of “Constellation”.
