The study of mencius' theory of human nature has always been a prosperous subject in modern China and the west. This paper tries to explore the cultural value and creativity of mencius' theory of human nature. The whole paper is divided into three parts:The first part focuses on an le zhe's unique methodology in the interpretation of menciusthe comparative interpretation of Chinese and western philosophy.According to an lezhe, due to the differences between Chinese and western cultures, there are misunderstandings of "interpretation from the west" and "fundamentalism" in the process of communication between the two sides. The second part is an investigation of the thought of mencius. In the west, mencius' theory of human nature is usually translated as "human nature".According to an,this kind of translation contains a bias of "essentialism",which only emphasizes a kind of "given" regardless of tradition without considering human's own creation.Influenced by gerihan and tang junyi,he interpreted mencius' humanity as a dynamic,creative,self-conscious and adult process. It was not the innate qualities of "human nature" that mattered,it was the achievements "culturally" that mattered. The interpretation of an le zhe from the perspective of "cultural significance" may lead to cultural elitism, but it is also conducive to exploring the cultural value and creativity of mencius' theory of human nature. The third part is the comparison between mencius and other interpreters. In the sense of "biology";Liu shu takes "moral heart" as the starting point.Xinguang lai in "cultural achievement ability";Yang zebo explained his views on mencius' theory of human nature in terms of "ethical state of mind".The four also pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of the theory of an le zhe. This chapter, through comparative analysis with other interpreters, can better position and grasp the theory of mencius' human nature expounded by an le zhe.
