Quantifiers are divided into nominal quantifiers and momentum words, which are generally used to modify nouns and verbs.Lv Shuxiang,Ding Shengshu and others have described the phenomenon of quantitative phrases modifying adjectives. On this basis, this paper examines the phenomenon of “One + quantifier” modifying adjectives, hereinafter referred to as “One+M+A” structure. The “One+M+A” structure is focused on the following aspects: each group constitutes sub-analysis,syntactic distribution, pragmatics, textual functions, and diachronic and motivational mechanisms. We believe that the irreplaceability of the numeral “One” is related to the cultural symbolic meaning, true value and non-true value of “One”.The quantifiers that can appear in the “One+M+A” structure are metrics, scorpions, borrowings, quotations, time quantities, etc. The quantifiers are more expressive and well worth exploring. The “One+M+A”structure can serve as six syntactic components and tends to act as an object and a predicate. In pragmatics, the structure can be used to measure, express emotions and the environment, and also has the functions of cohesion, reinforcement, and presentation in the chapter. This structure appeared in the Tang Dynasty and has been used until now. This has a close relationship with metaphor, metonymy, boundedness, and materialization.Through the investigation of the motivation, mechanism and various aspects of the structure, this paper hopes to better guide and standardize the use of “One+M+A” structure in daily conversations and written materials, and also provide some references for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
