Research On The Characteristics Of The Topic At The End Of The Sentence Under The Minimal Scheme

As one of the cutting-edge researches,topic structure has been studied by various researchers in structuralism,functionalism and formalism.Their researches on topics involve the relationship between topic and subject,the typological study of topic sentences,the cognitive and pragmatic study of topics,and the frequency of the practical use of topic markers and so on.Within all of these studies,only a few researchers have studied anti-topic and the sentence-ending topic-comment sentence,which has been regarded as the subject-predicate inverted sentence in the traditional grammar.However,it is not difficult to find that the 'inverted constituents'are similar to topicalized elements after the comparison between these two structures from the perspectives of syntactic structures and pragmatics.Under the full discussion of the canonical topic-comment sentence and the sentence-ending topic-comment sentence,the generation of anti-topic and the features of definiteness and relativization of anti-topic are put forward and investigated in this paper.Then under the framework of Minimalist Program,the author tries to explain and discuss the features of anti-topic by using the feature checking theory,based on the classification of syntactic topics from the perspective of pragmatics.On one hand,this paper provides a new perspective for the study of topic structure;on the other hand,it is helpful to deepen people's understanding of the sentence-ending topic-comment sentence and leads a new road for the future.
