China's acting academy has made remarkable achievements.Beijing Film Academy, the Central Academy of Drama and other art colleges and universities have trained many outstanding actors and actresses who are currently well-known.However,there are many problems with the traditional training method of stanislavsky methodology in Chinese acting academy. For example, teaching methods lack innovation, and new media technology is rarely used in the classroom.Stylized teaching methods do not engage students, and also lead to repetitive performance and lack of imagination.Obviously, the traditional teaching methods and means have been unable to meet the requirements for acting academy in the new period.VR(Virtual Reality)technology provides a new model for acting academy.Through VR technology, students who major in acting would have a deep observation practice in a virtual environment, feel the experience brought by the environment, understand and remember the acting objects on the basis of observation, and improve the acting quality and ability. At present, the combination of VR and education has received extensive attention from education researchers, but the application in acting academy is still a research blank. In view of the shortcomings of current acting academy, this study is involved in applying VR to the teaching of professional acting classes,so as to explore the potential for VR in assisting acting academy as well as providing a new model for acting academy in China. In this paper, the research status of VR technology at home and abroad,as well as its application and research status in the field of education are reviewed through a literature research approach. On the basis of referencing the literature at home and abroad, the status of research has been analyzed. In addition, combined with the characteristics of ‘interaction',‘immersion' and ‘imagination',I design a performance teaching experiment which was based on experience learning theory and multimedia learning theory.Several students who major in performance in Xiejin film and television art college of Shanghai Normal University were selected as experimental subjects to carry out a teaching experiment.By using the method of interview, classroom observation and analysis of after-class assessment results,a feedback on the use of VR as a teaching tool in acting lesson is obtained, confirming that VR has a positive impact on acting academy.First,Virtual Reality technology is conducive to stimulating students' learning engagement and interest,as well as to setting up a propitious atmosphere.Second, the immersion of VR is conducive to enhance learning experience,so that students majoring in acting will have intuitive, vivid experience.Third,to some extent,it improves students' academic performance and promotes the development of students' imagination, expression and other qualities and abilities. This paper puts forward that the application of VR technology in professional acting courses enriches the teaching methods of acting courses. It has great potential and brings vitality to the acting academy.Further more, this research has reference significance for the development of VR teaching products in the future, and plays a role in promoting China's acting teaching methods.
