Zhong Kui is the god to lay a ghost in Chinese folklore and he is also the ugliest god in ancient China.In ancient times,people would hang his portraits at festivals to drive away evil spirits.This folk custom has been spread from the Tang Dynasty to now.And the culture of Zhong Kui has evolved and gradually enriched and perfected to form a traditional folk custom with the changes of these dynasties.In the Ming Dynasty,Some words in Wang Zhi's Ink bamboo drawing saying that:The world's properties of things are different from each other,whether it is ugly or not depends on the drawing.It is said that the objects that exist objectively in nature have different characteristics.In the painting,the objective object is to depicted to be beauty or ugly both need being through the careful management of the paint creators.Following the dialectic of "turning ugliness into beauty",the author introduces the way of combining the "ugly" in the Chinese painting of Zhong Kui and the Western oil painting creation method into the artistic creation,which shows the special beauty that is different from the effect conveying from the past drawing of Zhong Kui,The author's creation draws on the image of traditional Zhong Rong painting in Chinese painting and the artistic features in Dunhuang mural figure and the painting style of oil painting to convey the author's purpose.Trying to present a mottled and historical sense of Dunhuang murals on the painting,to achieve a feeling of moving in silence and a well combination of line and surface.The texture sensation and color of the splashing are the main intentions that the author want to express.In the modeling method,the processing of lines is emphasized,such as some of them is complete,some are incomplete,some is color filling,and some is rubbed.In the using of color,there are four colors of red,green,black and white that are often used in Dunhuang murals after the Tang Dynasty.Extremely simplifying and decorating details,the final result is that Zhong Rong's rough and simple beauty is led to the feeling of silence and sublimity to creat a mysterious beauty.
