For a long time,China and South Korea have similarities in many aspects such as thought, politics and culture. After entering into modern times, the two countries both suffered from wars,as South Korea became a Japanese imperialist colony, and China became a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society. At the same time, however,Western thoughts entered the East, and the liberation trend of China and South Korea began to rise.In particular, the idea of women's equal ideology made women who had been oppressed by feudalism begin to pursue the right to freedom of education, love and marriage.Based on the social background of the time, the novels "Toji" and "Bai Luyuan" have reflected the changes in women's ideology during the transitional period of this society by shaping different female characters."Land" and "White Deer" are representative realist novels of China and South Korea. The creation time of the two works is similar, and there are many characters on the scene, and they reflect the life style of the grassroots people in the era change.By comparing the similarities and differences between women in the two works,we can not only understand the different living conditions of women in China and South Korea in the social context, but also have a deeper understanding of the female views of the two writers. This article takes Park Jingli,s "Toji" and Chen Zhongshi's "Bai Luyuan" as the main research object, and divides the six female characters appearing in the two novels into good wife and mother,"bad girl" and new women.Compare the fate of women described in the two novels of the same type. After that, this paper analyzes the causes of this similarity and difference by combining the author's personal experience and the different social backgrounds of China and South Korea.Western thoughts were introduced into the East, and there was a situation in which traditional thoughts and new ideas coexisted.Women were inspired by new ideas and began to reflect on themselves.Under this circumstance, there are many female images in the "Toji" and "Bai Luyuan" that pursue the liberation of free love and sexual relations. At the same time, women's understanding of self in the two works also shows a gradually clear process. However, due to the different degrees of colonial oppression in China and South Korea, the main contradictions in society are different. In addition, the positions of men and women writers on the rise of women's consciousness are not the same, leading to differences in women s image."Toji" and "Bai Luyuan" are the masterpieces of modern Chinese and Korean novels. They are not only highly praised in the country, but also have many related researches.Through the above research, the author hopes to select some representative female images for analysis and research, hoping to see the similarities and differences of female images in the literary works of the two countries and the female views held by the authors, which will provide a certain comparative study of modern Chinese and Korean novels in the future.
