As the young people receiving art and design higher education in the deaf community, the formulation and implementation of national policies and regulations, the mode and development of higher education profoundly affect their learning and growth, life planning and employment. The legal status of sign language in China is not yet clear, and the society lacks a correct understanding of deaf people and sign language. The general environment also leads to the relative ambiguity of deaf people’s social status and identity.Because of the visual good and specialty teaching and learning difficulty of the particularity, colleges and universities in the professional setting, the art design category of the major accounted for a large proportion. The differences in cognitive design of deaf students are embodied in the differences between senses and language.Because of the hearing impairment, the perception art design is mainly through the vision, and the sound is received by the deaf in the way of information transformation in daily life, which represents the vibration of objects and the reflection of the surrounding listening behavior.Through subtle observation and integrated predictive thinking, deaf people have a more "sensitive" way of cognitive design. As the main language for deaf communication, sign language is characterized by metaphor and metonymy in the field of cognitive linguistics. The interpretation of word-formation in sign language and the attention paid to body language may allow us to develop more teaching models for deaf students in the design of cognition. Therefore,as an extracurricular activity, the cognitive experiment, which is different from the traditional teaching in China, tries to focus on the deaf students’ special cognitive design and alleviate some contradictions and estrangement in the hearing world.
