Bellori is the illegitimate son of antiquarian Francesca Angeloni. He was trained as a painter and educated in the humanities.Bellori 's“Ideal Art” is undoubtedly consistent with the “Ideal Art”in the long history of the west since Plato, and it is also reached and perfected by Panofsky. But there is no denying that Bellori 's “Ideal Art” have a distinct era and his personal imprint.First of all,Bellori 's “Ideal Art”is concrete rather than abstract, that is,artistic beauty originates fromnatural beauty.Secondly, artistic beauty is the highest beauty, not Plato's abstract “Ideal Art”.Thirdly, the beauty of art is not single, but colorful, not sticking to one pattern; Finally, nature is the basis and foundation of the artist's idea.Beyond that, there will be no “Ideal Art”.As a 17 th art theorist,Bellori has strong classical feelings, but he is not the absolute classical art theorist described by Schlozer and Panofsky.
