Reading comprehension is an extremely important part of Chinese teaching and learning.On one hand,reading is the embodiment of the language level of Chinese learners,and on the other hand,it is difficult to grasp and solve problems in Chinese teaching.On the basis of the Ilarge-scale reading research in the second language,we explored the influence of vocabulary knowledge,syntactic knowledge and morpheme awareness on English reading comprehension,and proposed the following three specific research questions:(1)Does vocabulary knowledge,syntactic knowledge and morpheme awareness have a significant impact on the impact of English reading comprehension?(2)What is the order of influence of the three factors on the reading comprehension ability of the second-year university students?(3)What are the predictive powers of the three factors for reading comprehension of second-year students?Participants in this study were 111 second year students of Chinese Department of Hue University of Foreign Languages in Viet Nam,from three complete different classes.The tests included vocabulary knowledge test,syntactic knowledge test,morpheme awareness test and reading comprehension test,which were divided into two states.Afterwards,SPSS 20.0 was used for data analysis,and independent sample T test,correlation analysis and regression analysis were performed.The results show that there is a significant correlation between lexical knowledge,syntactic awareness,morpheme awareness and reading comprehension.The order of influence of three factors on reading comprehension is vocabulary knowledge,syntactic knowledge and morpheme consciousness.Vocabulary knowledge and syntactic knowledge have predictive power for reading comprehension,and morpheme awareness is not.In this analysis,we put forward some teaching suggestions for Chinese teachers in the reading class to promote students' reading comprehension ability.
