An Analysis Of The "Vi+NP" Construction From The Perspective Of Construction Grammar

"Vi+NP" structure is an unconventional linguistic phenomenon,but it is a popular expression.Linguists at home and abroad have made relevant studies on this linguistic phenomenon,and put forward many constructive views,but there is still a lot of room for research.As a new grammar research theory introduced from abroad,construction grammar has been used by many linguists in China to study Chinese grammar,explaining many grammatical phenomena that could not be explained before and opening up new research.In this paper,Goldberg's constructional grammar theory is taken as the main theoretical guidance,and relevant grammar theories are combined to conduct an in-depth study on "Vi+NP".This paper introduces Goldberg's cognitive constructional grammar in combination with Chinese examples,in which it mainly introduces the interaction between construction and verb,the interaction between construction and construction,construction suppression and other related concepts.In addition to constructional grammar,the theoretical framework of this paper also includes relevant theories of cognitive functional grammar.In particular,the theory of non-categorization has great explanatory power for the analysis of related problems of "Vi+NP" constructs.In this paper,the construction analysis of "Vi+NP" starts with the analysis of the transitivity of verbs.It is explained that the transitivity of verbs is a gradual change system from strong to weak,and that transitivity is the essence of verbs.Any verb can be analyzed with transitivity,but the degree of transitivity is different.Therefore,the grammatical positioning of "Vi"in "Vi+NP" in the verb family is determined.In addition,transitivity also exists at the sentence level.We can use transitivity to describe and analyze the hierarchical mode of transitivity.According to the analysis of transitivity,we have made an in-depth analysis of the "passivity" of the object,and found that there is a close correlation between "passivity" and "semantic type of object","transitivity of verb"and"constructional transitivity".The"passivity"level of the object is the representation of verb and construction transitivity.The semantic types of "NP"in "Vi+NP" are diverse.We can analyze the object's passivity by analyzing the semantic types of the object,so as to perceive the transitivity of the verb and construction.In order to explain the motivation for the inheritance of"Vi+NP"constructs,this paper summarizes four types of "Vi+NP" constructs according to the differences in syntactic structure.The four types of constructs are not isolated but have different degrees of correlation.These correlations can be linked by common correlation constructs.In general,the more correlations between constructs,the stronger the correlation between them.The structuring of "Vi+NP" is realized by multiple inheritance,and the grammatical features of the upper construction are constantly acquired,so that the"Vi" has both intransitive and transitive prototype characteristics.In addition,this paper analyzes the syntactic and semantic changes of "Vi+NP"structuring,and analyzes the motivation of constructional inheritance and the motivation of "Vi+NP" structuring from the perspective of constructional grammar to explain these changes.We use Goldberg's "on the prominence of metacognition" principle to analyze the construction of "Vi+NP" and provide the possibility of cognition for its construction.In addition we found that the mode of inheritance and the category is the process and result of relationship,a new structural type generated generally go through the process of "mode of inheritance" and then get the syntactic features of "category",It is through structural inheritance that Vi+NP obtains the partial categories of transitive and intransitive constructions,and finally presents the grammatical features of non-categorization syntactically.In addition,the suppression of construction provides a possibility mechanism for the generation of "Vi+NP" construction.On the one hand,it is manifested as "the overall supply element of construction";on the other hand,it is manifested as the existence of "extended meaning of construction",which builds a bridge to communicate with the basic meaning of verbs and enables verbs with extremely weak transitivity to enter the transitive construction.Finally,the pragmatic factors generated by the construction of "Vi+NP" are supplemented.The economy of language provides the possibility for the evolution of the construction of "Vi+NP".However,as an unconventional construction,"Vi+NP" is also limited by the language conventions.To sum up,this paper takes constructional grammar and related cognitive grammar theory as the theoretical framework,analyzes the transitivity of "Vi" and "NP" in "Vi+NP"construction and the correlation between them,analyzes the relationship between constructional inheritance and non-categorization,and finally explains the generative motivation of "Vi+NP" construction.
