This is a translation report originally based on The Oxford Handbook of the Theory of International Law,Oxford University Press,UK,2016(hereinafter referred to as Handbook or This handbook)which is to be taken as an academic and comprehensive one co-edited by Anne Orford,Florian Hoffmann, and Martin Clark. In accordance with the prior division of project team members, the author of this Report translated the second part of the Handbook(Approaches)into Chinese. In general,Chapter 14 of the Handbook mainly introduces the elements of natural law in the theory of international law, starting from the linear and dialectical dimensions,as well as focusing on the Spanish Salamanca school and the appearance of the Peace Treaty of Westphalia.Chapter 15 chiefly introduces the political principles in international law, namely, the application of Marxism in the theory of international law and its theoretical system. This report can be divided into four parts in general: The first part briefly gives the introduction of the main authors and translation project manuscript, including the sources and demands of project, the characteristic, content and style of the project, the process and impact of the project for individuals and even academic, social environments. The second part mainly includes the grasp of the theme of the excerpt and the analysis of original style. The third part deals with the key-points in this translation project, which explain how to translate specific examples using translation methods such as literal translation at the language level. The fourth part analyzes the gains and losses in the translation process and the problems that still need to be solved in the future.
