Translation Report Of The Korean Short Story "Jingsuk That Night"

The research object of this translation report is the Chinese translation of the short n ovel "One Evening with Kyung-sook" by Korean writer Kim Soom.This work reveals cha nges in the relationship between husband,wife and family structure in Korean families.It reflects the common phenomenon of contemporary society that people are "materialized",who lose themselves,and lack self-reflection consciousness.In addition,the novel has outstanding textual expression.First,writers have a strong ability to organize text.In this short novel,the writer basically shows all the trivial matte rs in life to the fullest.Secondly,the writer has adopted a repetitive approach to create te nsion and allow readers to appreciate the pressure of the characters.The writer also uses character dialogues to subtly set off changes in the relationship between characters.This n ovel uses a stream of consciousness writing method,which breaks the constraints of time and space.It does not focus on narrative,but captures all the details and clearly presents or small parts.This translation report is divided into four chapters:The first chapter mainly introduces the main content of the novel,the writer's works,awards and translation purposes.The second chapter explains the translation theory and tra nslation methods.It introduces Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory and the concepts of f ive kinds of translation methods used in the translation process,including conversion,the change of expression,amplification,omission and inversion.The third chapter analyzes tra nslation cases and introduces how to use the five translation methods to achieve functional equivalent translation of vocabulary and sentences.The fourth chapter is the conclusion,t he main content is the gains from the translation process,which is reasonable arrangement of the translation process,based on the full understanding of the original writing purpose,the flexible use of relevant translation theories to solve the difficulties in vocabulary and sentence translation.
