The Collation And Research Of The Imperial Academy In The Ming Dynasty

Centered on Guo Chao Xian Zheng Lu ·Hanlin Academy compiled by Jiao Hong,a well-known scholar in Ming Dynasty,this paper investigates the development of Hanlin Academy system and combs the functions and transfertations of Hanlin officials.Through the analysis of the biographies of Hanlin officials,we can perceive overall spiritual outlook of the elites in Ming Dynasty and the developing directions of the mainstream culture that they represent.Hanlin Academy is an important central institution of the Ming Dynasty.The scholars serving in Hanlin Academy had served as literary ministers who stayed by the emperior’s side for a long time.They had several functions in the state affairs of Ming Dynasty such as consultation,lecturing classics,compiling national books of history and taking charge of internal and external political affairs.They directly affected the rulers’ political decision-making and the development direction of the country.As the highest level of cultural elites in Ming Dynasty,Hanlin officials had the most active ideas and extensive knowledge,and they played an important role in helping rulers to rule the country and make decisions in management.The four volumes of Guo Chao Xian Zheng Lu Hanlin Academy are biographies of Hanlin officials in Ming Dynasty compiled by Jiao Ming,including a lot of biographies and inscriptions.It includes officials at all levels of Hanlin Academy in Ming Dynasty from the begining of Hongwu to the end of Wanli of Ming Dynasty,totaling 130 people.Among them,there are a lot of records about the functions of Hanlin Academy,the transfers of Hanlin officials and the characters of Hanlin officials themselves.Compared to Mingshi and other historical materials,this book is characterized by the fact that the biographies of the characters reflect the life of Hanlin officials more truthfully and is the first-hand material for academic research.This paper is divided into two parts.the first part is the collation of the book Guo Chao Xian Zheng Lu·Hanlin Academy.The other part is the research on the Hanlin Academy in the Ming dynasty based on the collation of the first part.On the basis of collation,the second part is to study the Hanlin Academy in two directions:One is the ontological study of Guo Chao Xian Zheng Lu ·Hanlin Academy,which mainly analyses its compilation style,such as the composition and arrangement of biographies.One is the study of Hanlin Academy of the Ming Dynasty,which uses the life of biographical figures to outline and restore the institutional settings and humanistic features of Hanlin Academy,such as the duties of officials,transfer and literary writing.These two directions are mutually explanatory and mutually verifiable.That is to say,the institution setting and evolution of Hanlin Academy constitute the compilation system of Guo Chao Xian Zheng Lu·Hanlin Academy,At the same time,the professional achievements,official career,and even the literary orientation of Hanlin officials reflect the administrative functions and social influence of Hanlin Academy.Introduction is told from the origin of the topic.the research contents and current research of Guo Chao Xian Zheng Lu·Hanlin Academy and Hanlin Academy in Ming dynasty.And it illustrates the writing direction of the paper from the aspects of document collation and material research.The first chapter is the the compilation style of the Guo Chao Xian Zheng Lu·Hanlin Academy and Hanlin Academy in Ming dynasty,mainly from the compilation style of the book and the evolution of the Hanlin system,to prove the development of the Hanlin Academy.Chapter two is the study on Guo Chao Xian Zheng Lu·Hanlin Academy and Hanlin officials.system of Hanlin Academy in Ming Dynasty.It is based on the materials of Guo Chao Xian Zheng Lu·Hanlin Academy and combines with other historical materials.It will combs and analyses the main functions,the appointment and transfer of officials of Hanlin Academy.In addition,it also analyses the spiritual outlook of the officials of the Ming Dynasty through the ideology,literature and art.Chapter three is the research on Guo Chao Xian Zheng Lu·Hanlin Academy and the literature of Hanlin officials.It will take the collation of the first part as typical materials,and combines with their own poems and works.The paper analyses the participation and guidance of the officials especially the Hanllin officials in the development of the Taigeti from Hongwu to Wanli.
