Sigmund Freud(1856-1939)is a famous psychologist and physician in the West.He formed his own set of unique introduction to psychoanalysis and became a famous psychoanalyst in the twentieth century.Among them, his research on art and aesthetics has not formed a systematic theoretical system, but it has a very wide impact on the history of art and aesthetics.Through the analysis of Freud's artistic activities, works of art, artistic creation and other theories, this paper reveals how Freud laid his artistic view on the basis of irrationalism instinct and solved its contradictions. The thesis is mainly divided into three parts: First, the philosophical basis of Freud's artistic view. This paper mainly expounds Freud's understanding of the essence of art and artistic creation is based on his instinct theory and personality theory.Secondly, the characteristics and main contents of Freud's artistic view.It mainly expounds Freud's irrationalism artistic view and Freud's basic views on the essence of art, artistic creation, artists and works of art.Third, the significance and limitations of Freud's artistic view. The core idea to be expressed in this paper is that although Freud laid art on the basis of irrational instinct,he was not a pan-sexualist.He advocated that civilization was the restraint and regulation of instinct.Although the essence of art was irrational,it played an important role in the process of human being's continuous progress towards civilization.
