Teacher talk serves as a part of essence in teaching activities,on account that explaining knowledge points, organizing students collectively and maintaining the class order cannot do without teacher discourse.Besides, teacher talk also functions as a factor of great significance that have an influence on students' comprehension and acceptance of teaching material, along with their interest and engagement in the classes, which is evidently showed in the course of language in particular. However, there is such research in terms of the field of TCSL(Teaching Chinese as a Second Language)micro-lecture,though quite a few scholars have previously investigated teacher talk in traditional TCSL courses as their object of study from different angles. As a matter of fact,micro-lecture is currently a issue of heated discussion with respect to the academic circle of education and a general trend in the development of education in the future, for which micro-lecture has gradually become an even more vital teaching method especially when related to TCSL.Apart from this, teacher talk plays a particularly outstanding role in the delivery of micro-lecture which is often regarded to be terse, forceful and fragmented. In consequence, the teacher talk in the micro-lecture of TCSL is a subject of great research value. In this paper, thirty prize-winning works of The First National TCSL Micro-lecture Contest for Graduate Students are selected as a corpus sample, and its related transcription corpora of more than forty thousand words are accordingly obtained by means of video observation.Afterwards, this paper researches and summarizes the characteristics of teacher talk in these samples from various perspectives such as the speech amount, speech speed, lexical density, vocabulary difficulty and MLU(the mean length of utterance)of the teacher talk, when the method of quantitative and qualitative analysis is combined together. At the same time, the research on the teacher talk condition in the total four samples of the prize winner L from the competitive school audition to the final submission of works is carried out,so that the progress of teacher talk in different stages of the contest could be compared and the elements that makes a difference on the development of discourse for teachers could be observed and discovered as well through case study, comparative analysis and other approaches in this thesis.According to the research conclusions,it is found that the teacher talk of the prize-winning works in the First National TCSL Micro-lecture Contest for Graduate Students possesses the features like large amount of speech, universally slow speech speed, high vocabulary density, more WBV(words beyond the vocabulary),and shorter MLU.Furthermore, the conclusion that the curriculum theme and the level of teaching objects in several aspects is of great relevance with the data is consequently drew too.Taking the case study into consideration, this paper also comes up with certain suggestions for the development of the teacher talk. The data and conclusions drawn in this paper,to a certain degree, could give expression to the actual situation of graduate students' teacher talk in the micro-lecture contest of TCSL at present, may offer certain guidance and reference to teachers who would take part in the competition,or design and deliver the Chinese micro-lectures for foreigners in the future, which shall be quite conducive for teachers with less experience to develop their language of instruction in a way.The research in this thesis can also provide some references for the related research in the future, and causes scholars to pay more attention and give an insight to the micro-lecture of TCSL and relevant issues.
