In the 17 th century, with the progress of social culture, people have more and more demands for information and knowledge. Therefore, the printing and publishing industry had developed and flourished, which promotes the innovation of image reproduction technology. Due to the influence of painting concept and painting materials used, before the appearance of Mezzotint technology, the image reproduction technology on the metal plate mainly used the line arrangement to represent the turning point of objects and space, or used the form of carving points to fill the gap. The visual demand of plane in the reproductive print result in the appearance of the Mezzotint. The technique of Mezzotint is to make closely arranged burrs on the metal plate by using tools, and visually indistinguishable points form a density surface. Ink is stored in these burrs. Based on the principle of intaglio printingmaking, printed picture on the paper shows thick black plane, extremely rich gray surface, to bright surface. The visual change from black dark surface to bright surface is continuously fine and rich. At the same time, due to the texture produced by making on the metal plate, the printing and painting on the paper has a unique effect. In the 17 th century and 18 th century, the western world experienced great changes, mainly reflected in the industrial revolution, the rapid expansion of capital, and the innovation of science and technology. With the progress of science and technology, this plate making technique of Mezzotint developed, such as the further mastery of metal materials. However, due to the impact of photography innovation in obtaining visual images on the painting and reproductive image publishing industry, as well as the replacement of technology in the printing publishing industry with economic interests as the core, the role of this technology as a reproduction image has been replaced. However, as the expression of the visual language of plane, with its own texture characteristics, Mezzotint attracted more and more artista in the 20 th century to use this technique for expressing.
