The Origin Of Spirituality In Primitivism

Primitivism is a kind of art trend of thought which has wide influence on Western artistic creation at the end of 19 th century and the beginning of 20 th century.The popularity of this artistic trend of thought had a great influence on many modern artistic schools in this period.Under the influence of the trend of Primitivism,artists began to imitate and depict primitive art,such as prehistoric art,tribal art and childlike art,and in the later period,they gradually turned to artistic creation techniques to express their inner self-spirit,it was used by many artists of the period.Through the study of the artistic characteristics and concrete expression of primitivism in the works of many western modern artists in this period,this paper analyzes the causes of the formation of primitivism and its spirituality at the end of the 19 th century from the perspectives of social culture and psychological inducement,from the perspective of the process of its emergence,the significance of spiritual expression in primitive works for the development of modern art and its position in the history of art can be deeply interpreted,it also helps us to have a clearer understanding of the development of western modern art in the early 20 th century.
