Emotional expression is the singer's ultimate goal in singing.Whether the audience can have enough resonance tests the singer's performance. In the face of different styles of works, the singer's emotional expression also has specific and unique methods. How to realize it needs detailed and comprehensive analysis and preparation. This paper takes two classic works as an example to discuss the emotional expression in vocal singing.Broken Dreams Left Behind and A Lark in the Barracks,as the masterpieces of soprano works with distinctive characteristics, are two songs which are typical of expressing emotions. In spite of the differences of their art styles, the two works share the similar emotion embodiment according to the different art images.Especially when the art images are concretized, modelized or humanized, the emotion expression of the singers will also become more vivid accordingly.Broken Dreams Left Behind is a song composed from a first person perspective, with a strong artistic image, therefore, the singer must perform it with full emotion. From the perspective of the white lady in the folk story, the song tells about women's unswerving and deep affection for love.In the analysis and singing of this work, this is also the starting point.A Lark in the Barracks creates the image of a lark in the military, which has the same distinctive features, but is brisk and lively in style, jumping strong. And its emotional expression needs to change accordingly. In addition, this work is presented in the form of a flowery soprano, which also requires high singing skills. The style of music works has always been varied, but what remains unchanged is how to express emotions in the most accurate way, which is also the direction that singers need to explore constantly.Combing the relationship between style and emotional expression is more conducive to the singer's skill display and art processing in singing,to obtain the best artistic expression.
