Compared with normal people and non-violent offenders, violent offenders are very special. They are more likely to experience their anger, and engage in more aggressive behaviors and even violent incidents. What is more,in the researches on the factors affecting aggression behavior, most of these research results at home and abroad have pointed out that trait anger has a significant predictive effect on aggression behavior, and many different theories have been put forward accordingly. Therefore, based on the general aggression model and previous research results, this study took the trait anger of violent offenders as the input variable to explore whether the lever of alexithymia can be activated to affect aggression behavior. Therefore, violent offenders are selected as this research's participants to explore the mediating role of alexithymia in the influence of trait anger on aggression behavior. This study explored the alexithymia level of violent offenders acts as the mediator between trait anger and aggression behavior.A total of 640 questionnaires were distributed to male prisoners from a prison located in Tianjin by the overall sampling method, while this study just got 530 valid questionnaires.According to certain standards, male prisoners could be divided into violent offenders(n=268)and non-violent offenders(n=262).And this study investigated the difference between violent offenders and non-violent offenders, discussed the relationship in violent offenders between trait anger and aggression behavior, and the intermediary role of alexithymia.Research results showed that the violent offenders and non-violent offenders in age, economic pressures and religion does not exist significant differences, while there were significant difference in some demographic variables, such as the level of education, place of residence, dropout history and alcohol addiction. Moreover, the differences in trait anger, alexithymia and aggression behavior were significant between violent offenders and non-violent offenders,to be specific, violent offenders at the levels of these three variables were significantly higher than non-violent offenders';There was a significantly positive correlation among trait anger, alexithymia and aggression behavior in violent offenders.Further analysis found that the level of trait anger of violent offenders could significantly positively predict their aggression behavior. That is to say,the higher the level of trait anger of violent offenders was,the more aggression behaviors they would produce; The level of trait anger of violent offenders could significantly positively predict the level of alexithymia, that is,the higher the level of trait anger of violent offenders was,the higher the level of alexithymia was;The level of alexithymia of violent offenders could significantly positively predict their aggression behaviors,in other words, the higher the level of alexithymia of violent offenders was,the more aggression behaviors they would produce;Alexithymia of violent offenders played an intermediary role in the influence of trait anger on aggression behavior, that is to say,the higher the trait anger level of violentoffenders was,the higher the alexithymia level would be,which would lead to more aggression behaviors. In the three sub-dimensions of alexithymia, only the mediating role of identifying self emotions difficultly in the influence of trait anger on aggression behavior was significant. After the analysis and discussion of the research results, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)There are significant differences between violent offenders and non-violent offenders in demographic variables, such as education level, residence, dropout history, and alcohol use,as well as significant differences in trait anger, alexithymia and aggression behavior. Moreover, the level of all variables of violent offenders are significantly higher than those of non-violent offenders;(2)There is a significant positive correlation between trait anger and aggressive behavior in violent criminals;(3)There is a significant positive correlation between trait anger and alexithymia in violent criminals;(4)There is a significant positive correlation between alexithymia and aggressive behavior in violent criminals;(5)Alexithymia of violent offenders plays an intermediary role in the influence of trait anger on aggression behavior.More specifically, the mediating role of identifying self emotions difficultly in alexithymia in the influence of trait anger on aggression behavior.
