In the traditional concept,students' learning level and effect depend on Teachers' teaching skills,education quality and ideology.But in recent years,with the curriculum reform and the emergence of a multi syllabus,more and more teachers and researchers in the field of education have found that both teachers and students are increasingly dependent on teaching materials as educational resources.Teaching materials have gradually become an irreplaceable and indispensable part of education and teaching in the new era.As far as English subjects are concerned,due to the examination oriented education system in China,reading texts in English textbooks are the most important part in English teaching.This paper selects the reading texts of book 1 to book 5 of major senior high school English compulsory textbooks and book 1 to book 5 of foreign research senior high school English compulsory textbooks for a comparative study of readability,and takes the English Curriculum Standard For General Senior High School(2017 Version)formulated by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China as a reference,and at the same time,uses the method of internal analysis and evaluation for analysis.Among them,the internal analysis refers to the research and comparative analysis of the readability of the reading texts in the foreign research edition and the major edition of the required senior high school English textbooks based on the internal analysis framework of teacher Cheng Xiao tang.It mainly focus on vocabulary,syntax,topic,easy to read value score and text difficulty.Summarize the readability,problems and characteristics of 1-5 volumes of reading texts in major edition and foreign research edition of senior high school English compulsory textbooks.The results show that,from the comparison of vocabulary,average sentence length and easy to read scores,the readability of the reading texts in the foreign research edition is lower than that in the major edition.From the perspective of the comparison of the difficulty of reading texts,the readability of the major version of the required senior high school English textbooks is lower than that of the foreign research version.The purpose of this study is to provide useful reference for senior high school English teachers who use the two sets of textbooks and the writers of the two sets of textbooks.
