Research On The Black Humor In Liu Zhenyun's Novels In The New Century

As a writer with distinctive style in contemporary Chinese literature,Liu Zhenyun can always bring endless black humor to readers in plain language.In the new century period,with the accumulation and deepening of life experience and creative experience,Liu Zhenyun has internalized his understanding of social reality into his novel writing,which makes the black humor in his works show different characteristics from those before,or,more precisely,a kind of black humor which can be regarded as the style of Liu Zhenyun’s novels is coming out.At present,the academic interpretation of black humor in Liu Zhenyun’s novels in the new century period is mostly focused on the language level,but seldom dabbles in the matter and cognition behind the language which are also regarded as the source of black humor by Liu Zhenyun.In view of this,this thesis classifies the latter two sources of black humor into two levels: form and theme,respectively.While analyzing the uniqueness of black humor in Liu Zhenyun’s novels in the new century period from these two levels,the thesis also attempts to further explore the motivation of this uniqueness and its value in contemporary literature.The first chapter analyzes the unique expression of black humor in Liu Zhenyun’s novels in the new century period,mainly from two aspects: “twist” as the form and “ningba” as the theme.The relation between these two levels are both distinct and interdependent,which makes the black humor enjoy distinction as well as integration.The second chapter explores the motivation of the formation of black humor in Liu Zhenyun’s novels in the new century period.The local experience as well as foreign influence,the anxiety of writers’ labels and the change of creative ideas make the black humor of Liu Zhenyun’s novels become “twist” and “ningba” after different stages of creation.Among them,Liu Zhenyun’s attention to national thinking is the key factor.The third chapter expounds the value and significance of black humor in Liu Zhenyun’s novels in the new century period.The new sublime feeling brought by the black humor makes the novel offer a unique aesthetic experience;Liu Zhenyun subverts the appearance of reality,giving the absurd a humanistic care from the standpoint of the common people;What’s more,the consideration of “relationship” and “existence” emanated by national thinking makes the black humor of Liu Zhenyun’s novels in the new century period more philosophical.Through the analysis of the characteristics,forming motivation and significance of black humor in Liu Zhenyun’s novels in the new century period,this thesis attempts to provide a feasible perspective for understanding the creation of his novels in the new century period.Meanwhile,it is also expected to provide a possible way to glimpse the value of black humor to contemporary Chinese literature.
