In response to the crime of corruption, the Criminal Law Amendment(?)added a new regulation on life imprisonment, which is also the first term used in life criminal detention in China. The addition of life imprisonment is undoubtedly a major breakthrough in the history of criminal law in China. It not only greatly deterred the corrupt criminals, but also further accelerated the process of abolishing the death penalty in our country. Therefore, there is a certain realistic basis for the definition of life imprisonment as an alternative to the death penalty.Through the examination of relevant information,it is found that for life imprisonment, the application of this system in some countries and regions outside the region is more experienced than in China. Its life imprisonment system is often a derivative of the death penalty and abolition of the process, which is similar to that of our country. It can be concluded that,to a certain extent, the development of life imprisonment penalties has a certain overlap of certain values compared with the death penalty. But whether the former can completely replace the latter, there are still many doubts in the academic world. This article starts from the connotation of life imprisonment system to the definition of life imprisonment, and takes the legal norms of life imprisonment as the entry point to propose practical solutions to the possible loopholes in the life imprisonment system and the obstacles that may be encountered in practice. The purpose is to achieve the rigor of the structure of the argument.
