The Perspective Of "sharp Power" And Western Discourse Hegemony

For a long time,the world discourse pattern has been characterized by "Western strong and Eastern weak".The Western countries led by the United States,with their dominant position in the world discourse system,control the generation of discourse and discourse communication,and form a tightly organized Western discourse hegemony through the dual control of content and approach.It strive to promote ideological penetration in the foreign strategy and serve the suppression of dissidents and safeguard national interests.Since the reform and opening up,China's national strength has grown rapidly,its international status has improved remarkably,and its international influence has increased markedly.However,due to the differences in political and economic systems,development paths and ideologies between China and the West and the lag of China's discourse system construction,it has been difficult for China to obtain an international discourse right commensurate with the comprehensive national strength.International public opinion,external communication,and diplomatic cooperation have been blocked by Western strong discourse.The normal development path of the country has been disturbed by the West,and the image of the country has been smeared and demonized by the West.China's weak position in the current world international discourse system and the realistic path of China's peaceful rise are urgently needed to establish a discourse status and a well-shaped national image that are compatible with its overall national strength.This paper will explore the similarities and differences between the concepts of“sharp strength” and “soft power” through comparative analysis,literature analysis,historical analysis and other methods to achieve the purpose of understanding the essence of “sharp strength”;By comparing the differences between Chinese and Western in cultures,values and development roads,this paper will discusses the misunderstandings of Western to China and defines the deep-rooted reasons for the "China threat theory." The reason to choose new word "sharp strength",the West for the smear of China's as the research object is that the "sharp strength" has its own special international background: the western countries are caught in the development dilemma and the old international order is unsustainable,the rise of the national group and the new changes in the international structure,China is rising and will lead the era of new globalization and the era of information warfare has arrived.Therefore,interpreting the word in the framework of international background will help to have acomprehensive and profound understanding of the latest development of Western discourse hegemony and the "China threat theory".In addition,through the recognition of issues such as "Western Central View",“Universal values” of the Western discourse system,and the monopoly of the “standards of democratic countries” can grasp the fundamental reasons for the escalation of the "China threat theory" and the dilemma of Chinese discourse communication.It is significant to help us get out of the trap of western thinking and develope China's soft power with confidence.This article takes the competition for international discourse as the research perspective,and uses the word "sharp strength" prepared by the West as the starting point to study the bad influence on the shaping of China's international image brought by the "China threat theory".Then,it explores the "Western discourse hegemony",the prime mover that makes "China threat theory" spreads on international and produce negative effect.Finally,combined the current situation of the discourse hegemony of the international discourse in China with the status quo of China's struggle for international discourse and the need to maintain the international image of the big country,it proposed to jump out the ideological trap of Western discourse hegemony and construct a socialist discourse system with Chinese characteristics in the new era.In summary,we should see through the discourse hegemony trap hidden behind the upgraded "China threat theory" and build a discourse system with Chinese characteristics.It has a significance theoretical meaning for us to improve China's international discourse power,improve China's soft power,and thus safeguard China's socialist ideology security and shape.Therefore,we can take the national image of a responsible country and firmly follow the path of development with Chinese characteristics.
