The New Situation Of China's Geo-environment And Its Strategic Choices

Geopolitics is an eternal topic in the study of international politics and international relations.The theoretical basis is that the differences in the living environment of different countries and nations,while shaping their common character,also profoundly affect the way they interact with each other.After the end of the Cold War,the world of bipolar confrontation headed by the United States and the Soviet Union is no longer.And the distribution of global political power began to be differentiated and reorganized.So far,the relatively balanced world structure has not been formed.In the 21 st century,with the rapid development of science and technology,the continuous deepening of globalization cooperation,and the emergence of non-traditional security issues such as energy shortage,environmental degradation,terrorism,transnational crimes and infectious diseases,traditional geopolitical concepts no longer seem to be the core topic of current international relations.Especially after the "9·11"incident,the conflict between anti-terrorism and civilization once became the hot spot of the international community.But it is worth noting that the rise of non-western countries,including China and India,as well as the reality of the constant fragmentation of European countries,have directly triggered the eastward shift of power in the international order to the Asia-Pacific and the broader Indo-Pacific region.As the only superpower in the world today,the strategic move of the United States to"return to the Asia-Pacific" is aimed at strengthening its influence in the western Pacific region and thus effectively maintaining its global hegemony,which has had a profound impact on China's geopolitical environment.Under the new situation,it is crucial for China to ensure national security and realize the great revival to really understand the general rule of geopolitics,grasp the development of the global geopolitical situation,analyze the reality of China's geopolitical environment,make a targeted and scientific analysis of the current problems facing China,and finally find effective coping strategies.This paper starts with the geopolitics theory,expounds the basic concepts of geopolitics and geopolitical strategies,combs the development of western classic geopolitics and the characteristics of ancient Chinese geopolitical thoughts,and compares the differences between China and the west in geopolitical thoughts.Based on rigorous theoretical analysis,this paper intends to enumerate the geopolitical situation of important case of change in the world in recent years,the analysis focused on gradually become a new center of global politics in the Asia-Pacific region,and analysis of this new situation plays an important role in the formulation of new security strategies and foreign policy by countries in the region Although there is an obvious trend of "returning to great power politics" in the current international politics,non-traditional security threats have not completely disappeared while the traditional security threats have increased,which forces us to have a new understanding and development of the traditional geopolitical theory.As China is moving towards the status of a global power,its own geopolitical environment also presents new changes and challenges with the changes of the international environment.To a large extent,China's peaceful rise is determined by whether it can play a more important role in shaping the new global geopolitical order.Due to return to study the origin,the purpose of this paper in the ending part summarizes the practical measures to create China's geopolitical strategy,and systematically proposes that China builds a geostrategic plan that is in line with its own interests.The core is undoubtedly to build a regional security system and establish a modern land and sea defense system under the premise of basing on the Asia-Pacific,consolidating the surrounding areas and coordinating the land and sea.
