In the rapid development of information age,the combination of multimedia technology and classroom teaching has a huge impact. In a large number of software,PPT has been favored by most schools and teachers, and the application in the classroom is becoming more and more popular. While PPT is widely used, there are also problems such as overloading of students' cognitive load and less interaction between teachers and students. Many studies have discussed about how to use PPT to promote learning.Studies have found that PPT presenting a large number of words was not conducive to learning.Presenting graphic and text simultaneously is beneficial to the integration of information.Whether the PPT text's simplicity will affect the learning outcomes and whether there are differences between the effects of presenting multiple key points simultaneously and presenting successively have not yet been discussed in depth. The study of the text's simplicity and presentation of the PPT will help to provide the reference for the teachers to design the PPT.In this study, the effect of slide design on cognitive load and learning outcomes was explored through experimental methods. It was divided into two parts. The first study discussed the influence of PPT text simplicity on students' cognitive load and learning outcomes. In second study, the influence of the PPT presentation and the learner's hemispheric preference on cognitive load and learning outcomes was investigated. The study 1 explored the effect of PPT text simplicity on students' cognitive load and learning outcomes.70 college students from a university in the city of Baoding were selected as subjects. The single factor experiment design between two levels of the subjects was adopted. The results showed that concise text subjects cognitive load was lower than the cumbersome text group and learning outcomes was better than the cumbersome text group, indicating that PPT with a high degree of concise text was conducive to student learning in the classroom teaching environment. In study 2,the effects of PPT presentation and cognitive style on cognitive load and learning outcomes were investigated.130 college students from a university in the city of Baoding were selected as the subjects. The experiment used 2(presentation:presenting simultaneously, presenting successively)*2(hemispheric preference:left hemispheric preference, right hemispheric preference)two factors between subjects design. The results showed that the main effect of PPT presentation in the cognitive load was significant. The main effects of cognitive style on learning outcomes and cognitive load were significant and the interaction between PPT presentation and cognitive style on the cognitive load was significant. The experiment showed that the way of PPT presentation could affect the cognitive load and presenting successively could reduce students' cognitive load and facilitate learning.Hemispheric preference had an affect on the students' learning. In the condition of presenting successively, the students with right hemispheric preference had lower cognitive load.
