Confucius Classroom and Confucius Institute are both important platforms for international promotion of Chinese and are brand projects that promote Chinese language and Chinese culture to the world.Confucius Institute focuses on universities,Confucius Classroom focus on primary and secondary schools.And the opening of Confucius Classroom plays a role in radiating Chinese teaching and cultural activities in overseas primary and secondary schools.In recent years,the Confucius Classroom in various countries have prospered and played an important role in the promotion of Chinese language in the basic education stage.However,academic research based on Confucius Classroom is relatively weak,lagging behind the practice of Confucius Classroom.From the perspective of Chinese international communication,it is possible to investigate and study the typical cases of Confucius Classroom,and to summarize the experience and characteristics of running Confucius Classroom.This can provide inspiration and reference for the construction and sustainable development of Confucius Classroom.This dissertation takes New Zealand Glenfield Confucius Classroom as the research object,combing New Zealand's education system and foreign language education policy and their influences on the promotion of Chinese language,investigating the establishment of the Chinese curriculum,the construction of"three religions",the individual factors of Chinese learners and cultural activities in Confucius Classroom,analyzing the exemplary role played by the Confucius Classroom,the factors that promoted its development and the challenges it currently faces,and summarizing its operating model and its characteristic development path.This study utilizes a varity of research methods,such as literature,questionnaires,interviews,and class observations.The dissertation is divided into four chapters:Chapter I,Introduction,including the research origin,research significance,research trends,research content and research methods;Chapter II,New Zealand education system and Chinese as a foreign language education;Chapter III,Glenfield Confucius Classroom survey,including Chinese curriculum and Chinese teaching mode,the construction of "three religions",the characteristics of learners,the organization of cultural activities,etc.;Chapter IV,the research conclusions and thinking.The study found that the Glenfield Confucius Classroom has developed a characteristic development model of "Confucius Institute-Confucius Classroom-cluster school collaborative development".It has played a good demonstration role and radiation effect in Chinese teaching in local primary and middle schools.China-New Zealand friendship relations and collaborative support,the macro planning and guidance of the Auckland Confucius Institute,and the active promotion and implementation of the school are the main factors in promoting the development of the Glenfield Confucius Classroom.Concerning the challenges faced by Glenfield Confucius Classroom,such as:lack of stability of teachers,lack of systematic teaching materials,and the need to improve student learning efficiency,this article proposes suggestions for promoting its sustainable development,namely:to increase the training of local Chinese teachers,to take Chinese language teaching as its core business,to improve the quality of Chinese teaching,and to develop localized Chinese language teaching resources.Finally,this dissertation puts forward some inspirations for the construction of Confucius Classroom Project in the international communication of Chinese:to give full play to the platform role of Confucius Classroom in the international communication of Chinese,to make full use of local resources and to take the path of characteristic development,to take Chinese language teaching as the main body and improve the quality of Chinese language teaching,to play the Confucius Classroom as a platform for comprehensive cultural exchange,to integrate Chinese language teaching with HSK and YCT and establish a Confucius Classroom quality assessment system.
