In the current geography teaching, senior high school students are unable to use their existing knowledge and skills flexibly. In this context, the theory of learning transfer is studied and applied to geography teaching to improve the effect of geography teaching.Firstly, the literature method is adopted to study the learning transfer theory, define the related concepts of transfer, and divide transfer ability into four dimensions:analogical transfer ability, causal transfer ability, deductive transfer ability and inductive transfer ability.Secondly, using the method of interview, combining the theory of transfer and the results of interviews with students, this paper explores the possible factors affecting the transfer ability of high school students in geography learning, including students’ interest and motivation in geography learning,self-efficacy,students’ cognitive structure and teachers’ teaching situation.Thirdly, using questionnaires to evaluate the transfer ability of geography learning of senior high school students. The questionnaire is divided into the initial survey and the formal questionnaire. After the project analysis of the initial survey questionnaire, the items with low discrimination are eliminated, and a formal questionnaire is formed. The formal questionnaire was distributed to senior two students from three schools in Shanghai. Finally,we formulate different dimensions of migration ability test questions.By analyzing the problems reflected by the students in the test questions,we analyze and summarize the application of four types of migration in regional geography teaching: analogy, causality, induction and deduction. It also puts forward strategies to improve students’ ability of geography learning transfer in regional geography teaching.Using one-way ANOVA,this paper explores the influence of various factors on the learning transfer ability of senior high school students. The results show that:(1)students with strong interest in geography learning also have stronger ability of geographical transfer;(2)Students with high self-efficacy also have stronger ability of geographical transfer;(3)There is no significant relationship between students’ cognitive structure and students’ ability of geographical transfer;(4)teachers’ teaching situation and students’ geographical transfer. There is a significant relationship between migration ability. Finally, through investigation and analysis, this paper puts forward some suggestions to improve students’ ability of geographic learning transfer in regional geography teaching. From the perspective of students: optimize the knowledge structure, improve learning ability;Improve generalization ability to achieve positive transfer. From the teacher’s point of view: based on the typical area, create the situation to promote positive transfer;Multiple variants are designed to facilitate positive transfer; The knowledge framework is constructed to promote positive transfer.
