The Chinese curriculum standard for compulsory education(2011 Edition)issued by the Ministry of education of the People’s Republic of China clearly states that "to cultivate students’ extensive interest in reading,expand the reading range,increase the reading volume,advocate less problem-solving,more reading,good reading,good reading,and read the whole book." The importance of reading extracurricular reading materials is not only reflected in the curriculum standards,but also in the newly compiled junior middle school Chinese textbooks.First of all,the extracurricular reading materials have changed from the original appendix position to within the unit,becoming the formal content of each unit;second,the extracurricular reading materials not only appear in the guide reading of each unit’s famous works,but also have the relevant extracurricular reading materials recommended for students to read in the expansion and extension part of many texts;the recommended reading amount on the books has also increased substantially.All of these prove that extracurricular reading is very important in Chinese curriculum,and it has far-reaching significance for the improvement of students’ reading ability and comprehensive quality.However,at present,there are many problems worthy of thinking and improvement in the process of guiding students to read extracurricular books,which are worth thinking about by experts,scholars and front-line teachers in Chinese education.This paper is divided into three parts,the specific structure is as follows:The first part: Based on the suggestions about the purpose of the extracurricular reading in the Chinese curriculum standard and the extracurricular reading recommended in the Chinese teaching materials,classify and study the extracurricular reading materials that the junior middle school students can contact,and analyze the characteristics of the extracurricular reading materials,because only by deeply understanding the types and characteristics of the extracurricular reading materials can we better study the guiding strategies,And combined with the category and characteristics of extracurricular reading materials,as well as the characteristics of teachers and students to develop the guiding principles of extracurricular reading materials.The second part: through the questionnaire survey of front-line teachers and junior high school students,we know that even though teachers and students know that reading extracurricular books can improve their reading ability,there will be some problems,such as the weak awareness of teachers’ guidance,the simplification of guidance form,the separation of guidance from students’ needs,the inadequate reading methods and evaluation feedback.Through the research,it is concluded that the main reason is that teachers ignore the guidance of curriculum standards,and their own reading reserves are small,lack of innovative awareness and other reasons,which are affecting the guidance effect of extracurricular reading.Therefore,it is urgent to put forward effective guidance strategies to help front-line teachers out of the dilemma.The third part: in view of the junior high school Chinese extracurricular reading guidance in the process of problems,this paper puts forward the corresponding guidance strategy.First of all,the front-line teachers should adjust the logical thinking of guidance and attach importance to the guidance of extracurricular reading materials;be brave to innovate the guidance mode and explore the new way of extracurricular reading materials guidance;recommend appropriate extracurricular reading materials and teach appropriate reading methods according to the needs of students’ physical and mental development;finally,establish a perfect achievement display and evaluation mechanism to stimulate students’ interest in extracurricular reading and maintain reading motivation.
