This article is mainly devoted to Northwest China environment study through theoretical demonstration and practical research.I set up a model based on Environmental Kuznets Curve Theory, due to social demand in coordinated development of both economy and environment. In Chap.3,we introduce a coupling approach to reveal the general relationship between environment system and economic system in 30 prefectural-level cities from 2004 to 2013.The study suggests that the coupling degree shows an growth trend, yet with an insignificant growth rate. The result of coupling degree also shows great difference between cities, which differs from the general trend. The study also reveals relativity between coupling changing trend and the economic development. In Chap.4,we runs a regression verification test, based on the panel data of 30prefectural-level cities from 2004 to 2013 in Northwest China, picking the per capita discharge amount of the industrial wastewater, the sulfur dioxide, and the industrial fumes as three statistical indicators of the environmental pollution. All three indicators shows inverted U curve relation with economic growth, which satisfy the fundamental hypotheses of the Environmental Kuznets Curve. However, the inflexion value of the latter two indicators are too large to overcome in short period, which currently indicates an quite severe situation in Northwest environment. In Chap.5,we compare the per capita discharge amount and the density of the sulfur dioxide. It is concluded that, when the density was taken as the statistical indicators, the result came quite the opposite with a U curve relation, which reminds us the importance of choosing the right and proper indicators.
