With the introduction of the policies of cancelling lower limit of loan interest rate in 2013 and upper limit of deposit interest rate in October 2015,the profit source of China's commercial banks has transformed from net interest income to profits in various aspects, products and service, which has become much more difficult to earn.Under such circumstances, the risk management of non-performing loan(NPL)became banks' essential basis.Only if commercial banks can effectively manage their credit assets and keep the NPL rate low,can they realize operating income and promote smooth development of national economic reform. Therefore, research in the causes and prevention measures of NPL is very important. This thesis takes Z bank in Jilin Province as an example to analyze the current situation, characteristics, causes and risk prevention of NPL.In the context of transformation and upgrading of Jilin Province,a maJor agricultural province, this thesis studies the representative cases of some large enterprises in Jilin, where pre-lending investigation and loan management was insufficient, and provides references for other banks.Using reverse deduction method, this thesis intends to locate and conclude indicators showed before NPL happened and use these indicators as precaution signals to enhance the risk management of current and newly increased loans. In its final conclusion, this thesis provides targeted and operable advice for commercial banks, especially front-line customer managers, which is of great guiding significance for improving bank's core competitiveness and sustainable development capability.
