Innovation is the first driving force to lead economic development.China's future development depends on technological innovation.In the context of economic globalization,the globalization of innovation is becoming more and more obvious.Enterprises can use the innovation network to integrate domestic and foreign resources to improve development efficiency.Innovation network has become one of the hot issues of economic geographers and regional economists at home and abroad.In order to avoid the heterogeneity of the industry,current scholars choose a single industry to conduct research on innovation networks,ignoring the deviation of the structure,spatial characteristics and external innovation performance of innovation networks in the context of differences in knowledge-based.Therefore,comparative study of the differences in innovation network structure and innovation performance between different industries is of great significance for enriching knowledge-based and industrial innovation theory.Based on the knowledge-based theory,this study selects the electronic information industry and equipment manufacturing industry as representatives of analytical industries and comprehensive industries.The two provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta are used as research areas,and the patent application data of 1985-2016 is jointly applied,with the help of SPSS.,Ucinet,Stata,ArcGIS and other software as well as social network analysis,negative binomial regression and other methods,systematic analysis of the structural characteristics of analytical industries and integrated industrial innovation networks and the impact on innovation performance.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Evolution of analytical industry innovation network structureFrom the perspective of the topological structure of the innovation network,the analytical industry innovation network presents a strong and sparse network structure.The cooperation objects of the innovation subject are mostly scientific research institutions with high knowledge level such as universities and research institutes.The innovation of the industry is geographically adjacent.The dependence is not strong,and cognitive proximity has a more significant impact on its innovation.From the perspective of the spatial structure characteristics of the innovation network,the spatial scope of the analytical industry innovation cooperation object continues to expand,and the innovation network presents a “global-local” cooperation situation.From the perspective of the relationship between innovation network and innovation performance,in the analytic industry,the main body occupies the structural hole position,which can promote the improvement of network innovation performance.Due to the strong research and development capabilities of the analytical industry,more R&D personnel are needed to support the development of the industry.Overall,the level of economic development and R&D expenditures have an important role in the improvement of innovation performance.(2)Evolution of integrated industrial innovation network structureFrom the perspective of the topological structure of the innovation network,the comprehensive industrial innovation network presents a “weakly connected sparse” network structure,and the cooperation between the entities is mostly the cooperation between the upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain.From the perspective of the spatial structure characteristics of the innovation network,the comprehensive industrial innovation is greatly influenced by geographical proximity.The selection of cooperation objects is more inclined to cooperate in the same administrative area or geographical proximity.In the process of its evolution,cooperation is mainly based on regional cooperation..From the perspective of the relationship between innovation network and innovation performance,the comprehensive industry has a great dependence on government policies,and the main body of the network with high structural center has no significant effect on innovation.The comprehensive industry has relatively low requirements for high-quality talents.It is mainly influenced by government policies and human capital in the region.The introduction of foreign capital and the investment of scientific research funds have no significant impact on the innovation of industrial core technologies.(3)Significant differences between integrated and analytical industrial innovation networks(1)There are a large number of analytical industry patents,and the number of patent applications for comprehensive industries is relatively small;(2)Analytical industrial network structure is a strong connection sparse network,while integrated industrial innovation network structure is weakly connected sparse;(3)The cooperation tendency of analytic industry entities is higher education institutions and research institutes with higher knowledge levels,and universities and research institutes are important sources of knowledge.Integrated industries are more inclined to cooperate with enterprises in the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain.The national grid and local power grid occupy a central position in the comprehensive industry;(4)The analytic industry's innovation is not very dependent on geographical proximity,and cognitive proximity has a more significant impact on its innovation.The integrated industry mainly relies on the communication between the subjects to spread.The geographical distance has a great restriction on the dissemination of knowledge.The comprehensive industry tends to cooperate with the spatially adjacent subjects;(5)For the analytic industry,the main body located in the network center and having more structural holes can promote the improvement of network innovation performance.The regional economic development level and R&D expenditure can also create a good environment for industrial innovation and promote the improvement of innovation performance..For a comprehensive industry,the role of the main body of the network with more structural holes is not significant.Industrial innovation is mainly influenced by government policies and human capital in the region.
