An Assessment On The Cross Cultural Challenges Multinational Companies Face In Ghana

The shrinking global boundaries and technological changes have intensified the significance of Multinational Companies Investing in Developing Countries.The government upon realizing the role of FDIs contribution to the economy saw the need to place more emphasis on Challenges that MNCs are facing in the Country to develop middle level skilled labor to help alleviate the economic crisis the country.The purpose of this study was to assess the Challenges that MNCs are facing in Ghana.A descriptive research design was adopted and the target population comprised about 10 managers from different MNCs,stratified random sampling technique was applied to select a sample size of 10 for the study.Questionnaires and interview guide were used as the main data collection instruments.Relative importance Index(RII),factor analysis,chisquare,regression and inferential analysis were employed for analyzing the data obtained.The results revealed that,the conversion was expected to solve unemployment problems and create jobs as well as putting measures in place to attract more Investors into the Country.The study results show that solving some of the challenges that MNCs face is very important to building the economy,including Cross Cultural challenges,lengthy registration process and some Government policies and regulations and bridging the gap between MNCs and the local Industry by training employees with employable skills,and having strong links with industry and business.Lack of reliable power supply,Huge Taxes imposed on MNCs,lengthy work permits for expatriates,The study suggested that there is the need to do an overhaul on some of the policies in the Country.The criteria for licensing of Businesses and work permits of the Multinational Companies should include professional or industrial experience and government should commit resources towards the realization of the ideas of the Technical University.
