As the pillar of China's financial system, the banking industry plays a decisive role in the sound and stable operation of China's economy. However, with the huge challenges brought by factors such as interest rate market reform, financial disintermediation,P2 P online lending, consumer online lending, and the influx of foreign banks, the traditional interest income of domestic commercial banks has been greatly affected. The bad days are gone forever.Domestic commercial banks with interest income as the main source of profit should be determined to be in an invincible position for development, and it is urgent to consider the transformation of the profit model. The intermediate business, due to its low risk cost and relatively high income, has gradually gained favor from the banking industry. It has developed rapidly in recent years and has become a pillar industry for the development of China's banking industry. Therefore,do what to improve the professional work becomes a core issue that commercial banks must solve in order to improve their business performance.Based on the analysis of the four theoretical foundations of commercial banks' intermediate business impact on business performance, this paper collects and compiles the annual data of 16 listed commercial banks in 2010-2017,and divides them into two large state-owned holding companies and small and medium-sized joint-stock commercial banks.Firstly,it analyzes the development status of the intermediary business of listed commercial banks in China from the perspectives of total income, income share, income structure and existing problems, and analyzes the trend of several key indicators of commercial bank's business performance. Then, the proportion of commercial bank's intermediary business income is taken as the explanatory variable.ROE is used as the explanatory variable, total asset logarithm and GDP growth rate are used as control variables, and the panel data model is used to linearize the relationship between commercial bank's intermediary business income and business performance.Returning, the empirical results show that the proportion of intermediary business income of large state-controlled banks is positively correlated with ROE,but the effect is not obvious;the proportion of intermediary business income of small and medium-sized joint-stock commercial banks has a significant positive impact on ROE.Finally, according to the analysis of the status quo and the results of empirical research, the emphasis is placed on increasing the emphasis on intermediary business, the development of intermediary business should be treated differently, the innovation of intermediate business products should be strengthened, the sales channels of intermediate business products should be improved, the transformation of listed banking business should be accelerated, and the division of operations should be accelerated.Policy changes to mixed operations and continued improvement of laws, regulations and accounting standards for commercial banks' intermediary business.
