In response to the global warming,international society has made agreement on reducing carbon emission and great effort on carbon trading.In this context,carbon disclosure has received a growing attention by companies,governments and other stakeholders.Company's decision of carbon disclosure is impacted by many factors,and recognizing those factors can benefit the improvement of carbon disclosure system.According to the theory,those which have better corporate governance can better balance the information disclosure demand of stakeholders.So,we suppose corporate governance has a positive influence on carbon disclosure.So in this study,we collected the carbon disclosure information and data of listed companies during 2013-2014.Based on this data,we have undertaken an experimental analysis to test whether corporate governance influence the carbon disclosure.Meanwhile,we created the governance index to analyze whether it impact carbon disclosure.The research shows,ownership concentration,institutional investor holding and the nature of companies will influence the decision of whether disclose carbon influence or not,while separation of board of directors and general manager,institutional investor holding have a positive influence on the disclosing quality.State-owned firms tend to disclose the carbon information.However,ownership concentration is negatively correlated with carbon disclosure.In addition,the governance index have significant positive relevance with carbon disclosure.This study can improve the carbon disclosure mechanism in China.
