With the deepening of the “One Belt,One Road” initiative,more and more enterprises have begun to implement the “going out” strategy,actively expanding overseas markets and promoting enterprise exports.Talents with overseas backgrounds have rich overseas work and study experience,which is conducive to better matching with overseas competition environment and promote international development.Therefore,the introduction of talents with overseas background has become the consensus of companies with international development trends.In addition,due to a series of favorable policies formulated by our government for overseas talents,more and more returnees have returned to China to develop and enter important domestic enterprises and hold important positions.This has also greatly promoted the exploration of overseas markets by domestic enterprises.,thus affecting the performance of enterprises in export.Since foreign companies generally attach a high degree of emphasis on innovation,talents with overseas backgrounds are generally more positive about innovation,and as innovation investment increases,new products are produced or new methods are used to make companies international.The market is more competitive,and on the other hand,it can also improve the production capacity of enterprises,and is more conducive to the overseas exports of enterprises.Therefore,whether the overseas background of the Top Management Team(Hereinafter referred to as TMT)can promote the improvement of the company's innovation ability,and ultimately improve the export performance of the company,has become the content of this study.Based on the Upper Echelons Theory and the related literature,this paper divides the overseas background of the TMT into overseas work experience and overseas education experience,and then analyzes the impact of the two experiences on the export of enterprises.Finally,the paper analyses whether R&D innovation plays a mediating role between the overseas background of TMT and export performance.Through the analysis of stata regression results,it is found that the overseas staff ratio of TMT and the overseas work experience have positive effects on the export of the enterprise,and the overseas education experience is not significant for the export the enterprise.At the same time,the analysis shows that executives with overseas backgrounds,whether they have overseas work background or overseas education background,have positively promoted the company's innovative R&D investment.In addition,the results of the intermediary test show that R&D innovation plays a part in mediating the relationship between the overseas background of the TMT and corporate exports.In addition,the study found that although there is no correlation between overseas education background and corporate exports,it has a significant positive correlation with corporate innovation.According to the research results of this paper,the following suggestions are proposed: For listed companies with export tendency,the author suggests that executives with overseas backgrounds,especially those with overseas work background,can be appropriately employed,increase the proportion appropriately,and appropriately increase R&D investment,thereby improving the company's overseas export performance.For the government and relevant departments,the author suggests that the government should actively improve the employment mechanism of returnees,increase the publicity of preferential policies,and guide the development of returnees in various regions through policy guidance.The possible innovation of this paper is that although there are many literatures on the impact of various aspects on the enterprise from the characteristics of executives,the literature on the export performance of enterprises is relatively scarce only for the overseas background of executives.The author is based on many scholars.The research proposes the topic and hopes to supplement the existing theoretical research.In addition,in the study of the overseas background of the senior management team,previous studies often regard the overseas background as a variable.Only a few documents further divide the overseas background,and study the enterprise against each subdivision variable.Quantitative research on business management.Therefore,in this paper,combined with relevant theories and data support,the overseas background of executives is divided into “overseas work background” and “overseas education background”,instead of being a general indicator,thus proposing more targeted research hypotheses,to obtain more targeted conclusions and recommendations.
