A Preliminary Study On The Economic Indexes During Modern China(1919-1949)

As an important economic analysis tool,the economic index has a long history and is of great practical significance.During the period of the Republic of China,many achievements have been made in the compilation of economic indexes,but there are still some shortcomings,especially the introduction of economic index is not comprehensive or complete.In allusion to the above-mentioned shortcomings,this thesis aims to comprehensively and completely review the compilation of economic indexes during the Republic of China.The thesis focuses on three aspects:firstly,the economic index after the 1940 s is supplemented to the previous achievements;secondly,a brief introduction of economic statistics publications and compilation institutions is added,which roughly showed the academic environment of the economic statistics and the overall situation of the government at that time;finally,the contents and methods of index compilation are explained,and the quality of index compilation is grasped through horizontal comparison between similar indexes.The thesis divides the economic index into four categories: price index,index of living expenses and wage,foreign trade and financial index,and production index.It is divided into four chapters,and each chapter corresponds to one type of index.In each category,the index is further subdivided according to region,coverage time and statistical objects,so that the thesis can visually display the breadth,depth and continuity of the index compilation.According to the public information,each chapter has elaborated the index which has substantial content and good time continuity,including the publication of the index,the evaluation of the compilation situation and the source of information,in order to achieve a comprehensive,full and solid review.The thesis makes a comprehensive review of China's modern economic index,which is helpful to understand and grasp the good methods of social and economic development in modern times.It also helps to understand the general situation of the government's accounting system and statistical work.
