In recent years,China's rapid economic development has made remarkable achievements, but the price paid is excessive consumption of resources and the destruction of the environment. It was not until 2007 that China issued the first policy on green credit. However, the frequent occurrence of environmental problems not only has a significant adverse impact on the living conditions of human beings, but also the depletion of resources has seriously hampered the progress of social economy.Compared with developed countries,China's commercial banks have invested less in green credit, and their development has stalled in recent years, lacking corresponding motivation. This is not conducive to the sustainable development of our economy, but also has a certain negative impact on the operational efficiency of commercial banks. In this context,it is particularly important to study the impact of Chinese banks' green credit on their operational efficiency. This article mainly studies the impact of green credit on the operational efficiency of commercial banks.First, this article reviews and combs the relevant literature, including the concept of green credit, the calculation and influencing factors of bank efficiency, and the impact of green credit on bank efficiency.Secondly, the concept of green credit is introduced. From three perspectives of bank loan structure, risk management level, and social reputation,it analyzes how green credit affects the operational efficiency of commercial banks, and proposes relevant assumptions. Then it analyzes the development status of China's green credit business and the problems it faces. The results show that thedevelopment of green credit in China is relatively fast, but the business volume is relatively low,and the development has been slow in recent years.Conflicts of interest, mismatched resources, single product structure, asymmetric information, etc.are all reasons for this phenomenon. In order for green credit to develop better and improve the operational efficiency of commercial banks, these are all urgent problems to be solved. Then the DEA model with variable scale returns is used to calculate the comprehensive efficiency value, pure technical efficiency value and scale efficiency value of each commercial bank. Finally, the panel data of 16 commercial banks from 2010 to 2018 are used, with three efficiencies of commercial banks as explanatory variables, green reputation of commercial banks as intermediary variables, and green credit of commercial banks as core explanatory variables, performed by Tobit regression analysis and intermediary effect model regression analysis. The empirical results show that, with the increase in the proportion of green credit of commercial banks,it can effectively promote the improvement of comprehensive efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency of commercial banks. Then through the empirical analysis of the intermediary effect model,it can be concluded that the impact of green credit on the efficiency of commercial banks can be achieved by improving the green reputation of commercial banks, that is,the variables have a complete intermediary effect relationship. Then the full text is summarized on the basis of theoretical analysis and empirical analysis. Finally, according to the actual situation in China,we put forward corresponding policy recommendations to the government andcommercial banks from different perspectives. The government needs to implement corresponding incentive and punitive policies, establish an information sharing platform, formulate corresponding corporate environmental trust standards, and increase supervision of enterprises. On the other hand, commercial banks need to deepen their understanding of green credit, learn the international advanced "equatorial principle" related concepts, increase the training of professional talents, and strive to innovate green credit products.Eventually, its customer group will be expanded to ordinary citizens, and the advantages of the national linkage effect will be brought into full play.
