At the National Conference on technology innovation,President Xi Jinping stressed: “Science and technology is the weapon of the country,and the state depends on it,and the enterprise depends on it to win,and the people's life depends on it.” In the critical period of China's rapid economic development,technological innovation is undoubtedly the fundamental way for enterprises to develop better,faster and larger.The core element of technological innovation is human,and the core element of enterprise management is human.Therefore,in the process of improving the innovation ability of enterprises,what kind of role does the senior managers play as the core of technological innovation and enterprise management,and what kind of means will enterprises use to promote the innovation ability of enterprises,have become the focus of scholars' attention.Based on this,this paper chooses the most closely related technology executives and the most common means of compensation incentive in enterprise management as the research object,hoping to study the relationship between technology executives' characteristics,compensation incentive and innovation performance of high-tech listed companies,and explore the influence of technology executives' characteristics on innovation performance under the regulation of compensation incentive.On the basis of clarifying the influence mechanism among the three,this paper puts forward more reasonable suggestions for the selection and training of technical executives,provides useful reference for enterprises to develop a reasonable salary incentive system,and also provides reference for enterprises to improve innovation performance.In order to achieve the purpose of this study,guided by the theories of high-level management,principal-agent and technological innovation,this paper adopts the methods of literature research,statistical analysis and theoretical analysis,and puts forward the hypothesis and model of this study on the basis of a large number of studies and analysis of existing literature at home and abroad,and selected the high-tech listed companies from 2008 to 2017 as the research samples for empirical analysis.After combing the relevant literature at home and abroad,this paper selects six factors as indicators of the characteristics of technical executives,including age,gender,cumulative tenure,education background,overseas background,academic background,and so on.Two indicators,monetary salary incentive and stock ownership incentive,are selected as the main means of enterprise salary incentive,and the number of patent authorization is selected as the indicator to measure the innovation performance of enterprises.Finally Select the samples of high-tech listed companies with property rights abroad for robustness test.The empirical analysis shows that:(1)In the study of the relationship between the characteristics of technology executives and innovation performance,the results show that the age of technology executives has a negative impact on innovation performance,and the education background and academic background of technology executives have a positive impact on innovation performance,and female technology executives are more conducive to the improvement of innovation performance than male technology executives,and there is no relationship between the cumulative tenure of technology executives,overseas background and innovation performance;(2)In the study of the relationship between compensation incentive and innovation performance,the results show that both monetary compensation incentive and stock ownership incentive have a positive impact on innovation performance;(3)In the research on the moderating effect of compensation incentive on the relationship between the characteristics of technical executives and innovation performance of enterprises,monetary compensation incentive has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between the age,gender,cumulative tenure,education background,overseas background,academic background and innovation performance of technical executives;however,shareholding incentive only plays a positive role in regulating the innovative performance of female technology executives,but does not play a regulatory role on the relationship between the age,cumulative tenure,education background,overseas background,academic background and innovation performance of enterprises.Finally,on the basis of the empirical results,this paper puts forward some suggestions for the innovation performance improvement of high-tech listed companies in China from the aspects of the selection of technology executives,the training of technology executives,the compensation incentive mechanism and so on,and puts forward the prospects for the deficiencies in this study.
