Study On Production Efficiency And Influencing Factors On Characteristic Industry Of Iron Stick Yam In Wen County

As an indispensable part of agriculture in Wen County,the characteristic industry of Iron Stick Yams plays a profound role in the rapid development of agriculture.It increased the revenue of farmers and rural modernization in Wen County,which was regarded as a new representative of agricultural products in Henan Province.Starting at an early stage and developing at a fast growth rate,the characteristic industry of Iron Stick Yams in Wen County had demonstrated evident economic benefits and brands effects through promoting industrialization level continuously.With Iron Stick Yams prevailing among consumers,the market had been experiencing thriving development increasingly while the national industry of Iron Stick Yams had stepped into a new era,during which numerous producing regions had emerged nationwide,squeezing the market occupancy of Wen County to some extent.At the same time,the industry of Iron Stick Yams in Wen County had encountered a development bottleneck on account of booming growth in the general market.Intending to improve competitiveness and breakthrough the bottleneck,this paper analyzed the current situation of Iron Stick Yam industry in Wen County and measured the productivity of the industry,based on Factor Endowment Theory,Growth Pole Theory and Comparative Advantages Theory.Decomposing and comparing productivities in different regions,this paper aimed to provide supports for the improvement of productivity.Finally,this paper determined the effects that each ingredient exerted in the industry by analyzing involved ingredients.Consequently,this paper possessed practical significance for the sustainable development of the characteristic industry of Iron Stick Yams in Wen County.Clarifying the current situation of contribution and output in the characteristic industry of Iron Stick Yams in Wen County,this paper implemented empirical analysis on the productivity and affecting ingredients in the industry by using DEA-Tobit Method,finally attaining conclusions which are illustrated as below.(1)The steady contribution of land factor provided the most fundamental guarantee for the development of the industry.(2)The number of planting households of iron stick yam had been increasing continuously to a sharp decrease,which had formed a stable trend of change.In the production process of iron stick yam,the employment of labor was an indispensable part.(3)The orientations of technology contribution appear to be varied among different operating entities in the industry.(4)Compared with other producing areas in Jiaozuo City,the output value and yield of iron stick yam in Wen County had an absolute advantage,and the output was at a disadvantage(5)Substantial fluctuations in comprehensive technological efficiency,pure technological efficiency and efficiency of scale could be identified in the characteristic industry of Iron Stick Yam in Wen County.Contribution and output in 5 regions of Wenquan Street,Zhangqiang Street,Huanghe Street,Xiangyun Town and Fantian Town had reached optimal combinations.Although excessive contribution could be witnessed in 4 regions of Yue Village,Zhaoxian Village,Beileng Village and Wude Town,the combination of contribution and output could still reach efficient status of DEA after adjusting.Negatively affected by diminishing technological improvement,the total factor productivity descended continuously.(6)Concerning factors affecting productivity,the selling price,circulation area of land used to plant Iron Stick Yams and commodity rate was positively correlated to productivity while numbers of farmers and contribution per mu was negatively correlated to productivity.Based on conclusions above,this paper proposed 4 suggestions aiming to guarantee steady and sustainable development in productivity of the characteristic industry of Iron Stick Yams in Wen County.(1)The combination of production factors using addition and subtraction should be optimized.(2)Establish well-regulated trading market mechanism to ensure the steady price.(3)Accelerate the process of industrialization and improve the level of standardized planting.(4)Implement Brands Effects Strategies and encourage farmers to actively participate in.
